The place is very beautiful, especially at night; situated along the river it has a romantic atmosphere. Service and staff are excellent. Unfortunately the food is average and certainly not worth the money. My bill, around 900 baht for ONE person would have cost 1/3...of this amount in any other more "local" restaurants in the vicinity and the food would have been more teastfull. I ordered "spicy/ Hot" and received barely peppery.More

Just ate dinner here ! Rather costly and very substandard food very disappointed! We ordered beef & peppers in a black pepper sauce ! Hardly any sauce and peppercorns thrown in for good measure ! We had shrimp which were like rubber ( so over...cooked ) Not recommendable sorry ! I gave it a 3 as the staff were lovely 😊More

Always great and never disappointed. Menu has been reduced recently but still great choices, excellent food and service. Lovely location on the river by the iron bridge. Can’t fault it really! Look forward to dinner here whenever we are in Chiang Mai! Can’t wait to...return!More

It's all relative. River Market is relatively more expensive than other Chiang Mai restaurants, with a comparatively nicer setting, better service, and nicer presentation. The food is very good, for Chiang Mai. I had a nice dinner and was glad I came here.

Food is ok, although we had to send the satay pork back because it was slightly under cooked. Very good ambiance. A bit on the pricier side.

We had a nice dinner here on a Friday evening. They were fully booked for reservations but we were told we could walk in, and we only had a 15 minute wait until our table was ready. We sat at the bar with a drink...while waiting, looking out over the Ping River - very romantic! The food was good, unfortunately the service was quite slow. Would recommend the chicken curry roti rolls. Also on the slightly pricier end for Chiang Mai.More

We had lunch in this place at the start of our tour through Laos-Cambodia. We were 20 people and I was amazed how well they were organised. No mistakes made and on top of it very tasty. Try the local beer

We stopping in for lunch and had the pineapple fried rice and a chicken curry. Both very tasty 😋. We hadn’t planned on coming back for dinner, but when our plans fell through, we headed back to The River Market. For dinner we had fresh...spring rolls, green curry roti and salmon curry served in a coconut shell.More

A delightful Thai place where everything we ordered was delicious. Great ambience and service Well constructed cocktails Appetizers of pork shumai were the “best ever tasted “ according to our well traveled kids — we agreed! Pineapple rice for our grandson — full of flavor...and not spicy for the little tyke Salmon in a coconut shell — surprisingly well flavored and AND not overcooked as most restaurants do. Northern pork knuckle stew — a fatty cut of delicious pork — a once in a blue moon indulgence Northern Thai sausage — again delicately spiced and much appreciated Would unreservedly recommend this place! Did the local street market tour which was fine as basic comfort food — this more expensive place well worth the money to appreciate the contrast between street food and a better quality restaurant with quality ingredientsMore

The River Market is set back about 80 metres from the Ping River, only 300 metres from the night market and with views over the river and surrounds. Open-planned with a traditional Thai theme, it is large enough o cater for big groups but also...sufficiently intimate for couples and families. The food is first class, offering a wonderful selection of traditional Thai dishes and a reasonably priced wine list. Overall an excellent experience for an evening meal in Chiang Mai.More
