At first, I never thought that Jim Thompson is able to hold a dining event that with more than 50 pax but I was wrong! The upper floor is good enough to have a fine dining for around 100 pax with great river view and nice decoration. Too bad that I was keeping myself busy chitchating with colleagues without taking... Perfect for a light lunch: full of exotic Thai dishes, very fresh and zingy salads served with very tasty smoothies. What else would you need on a hot day visiting Jim Thompson House.

For excellent Thai food we always make a point of stopping here on each Bangkok visit, they have a limited selection as its only a small cafe but what they do have is always fresh and tasty. Really refreshing tropical fruit drinks try the mango and lime or lychee mint and lime which is really refreshing. They have set menu... More

Yet it does not interfere with the taste of the food. Yes it's cafe food but well worth the effort while waiting for a tour of the historic timber house.

Jim Thompson Café 9 is a great way to finish a tour of the Jim Thompson house, or a quiet spot in the midst of the busy Siam area. We had a seat right by the pond which is full of fish and a had a very relaxing cup of coffee. The service here was okay for what is a... More

Wanting a quick bite to eat before going to the nearby Snake Temple, we stumbled across the Jim Thompson shop and cafe. Food was lovely but serves were on the small side and prices were high (I suppose they have to match all the high prices of every Jim Thompson store item) Not worth going unless you're in the area... Food was rather bland! The beef curry was mainly fat! Cocktails an smoothies were nice! Staff were rather eager to take the plates and glasses even though some of u weren't finished! Prices you would expect at a touristy place!

We were shocked to find during out last visit that the tom ka gai and chicken stir fried with cashews were so utterly delicious. We have visited Cafe 9 over the years mainly because we have been shopping at the main store and we are prepared to pay a premium for the location. But we were not prepared to be... More

Nice restaurant with decent service and very good food. Unfortunately considering the price of other restaurants in Bangkok I really found this restaurant a bit overpriced. Maybe because it is part of Jim Thompson museum.

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
