This almost 40-year old restaurant has a nice 70ties interior on one floor with mezzanine. The atmosphere could be nicer with the TV off. Maybe the dishes were intended that way (Thai-Chinese food tends to be quite oily), or we may have been unlucky, but all our 3 dishes were far too oily and quite salty and we didn't finish... More

We went here as our thai host recommended it, but we did not like it so much. I think it is a bit overcharged compared to other restaurants this type, but the food was OK.

My first disgusting meal in Thailand. I'm a vegetarian. The dishes I was brought were tofu and vegetables in a horrible, bland "gravy" and a gooy fried rice with miniscule pieces of vegetables, also bland. At the table next to us was a man who spat on the floor and talked constantly in a loud voice on his cellphone. My... More

We found the place on TripAdvisor and decided to go for a dinner. It turned out to be a great place - busy with local and international guests, friendly staff, wide choice on the menu, quick service, and very reasonable prices.

Thought it's a vegetarian restaurant but found it's a vegetarian friendly one with only half page of choices on their nicely made English and Thai menu. Good location on a road along the river, clean and bright inside. The staff are friendly.

We were in Bangkok to explore. I had negotiates with a tuk tuk at The way of The Golden mount to tour us about three other temples. So the GF and I were deposited at the Way of the Standing Buddah at midday with the sun nearly touching the earth and no real idea what was where. We saw the... More

This highly respected and reputable establishment among Thai society deserves to be much better known among visitors. Particularly for those with engagements at the UN Conference Centre just 200m down the road, this is the perfect spot for lunch or dinner. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful, with excellent English, but if you do make an effort to speak... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
