This place is as authentic as you will get in Bangkok. They've been going for decades, and some day it will be bulldozed to make way for a big swanky hotel or a shopping mall. Go there while you can. The owners speak very little English, but they are very welcoming. Food is delicious and cheap, service excellent, and the... More

We stay at the Golden Tulip Mandison Suites on Soi 20, and this Authentic Thai restaurant is just 100 metres away. If you desire Real Thai food cooked well you cannot go past Thong Lee. We have been coming here on every visit to Bangkok for 5 years now. If arrive to late and they are closed ( last food... More

We stumbled upon this little gem strolling the soi and were pleasantly surprised by the excellent fare and congenial service. The proprietor is an old-school curiosity serving his delicious family menu with amazingly brisk service. The kitchen utilizes a full stock of traditional herbs with abandon and the roselle tea is probably the best I've ever tasted, be aware that... More

This "cute", covered, open air, "mom and pop" which had been known for good food at moderate prices has sunk to a place of average food in a disdainful prejudicial environment. Not only are their service preferences obvious, any use of electronic media (remember this is not the Ritz, it is not quiet, it is an open air place on... More

We ate here on our last night in Bangkok. The main reason was that it was the closest to the Park Plaza hotel, and looked like a better than "hole-in-the-wall" place. We were still green Yankees, from a food ordering perspective and wound up ordering 2 entrees each. That, plus the soup and pork rind was more that I could... More

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighbourhood Profile
Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
