a Must go for sea food lovers. This place offers all the variety of sea food which you can ever think of, in bankok

Embarrassed to say we fell for this one but we did and it cost money to learn. First day in Bangkok, Just wanted a short taxi ride and ended up being taken for a ‘good’ Thai dinner by an over friendly taxi driver. Landed at...this place. Classic tourist mistake. Asked for ride to specific area and told it was closed, overly friendly to a little pushy staff, restaurant no menu review, etc etc. Bill for two shrimp (poorly done), Tom yum and a beer each for 4 people 6300 Baht. Lesson learned on first day. Need to make sure there are no more lessons! Trip Advisor is a valuable tool! Update - took me a couple of months to post this but I am happy to say this place was certainly the exception to Thai and Indochina hospitality and honesty. This restaurant really is a disgrace to the people of Bangkok and Thailand. Do wish there was more I could do than just leave a bad review.More

Do not go to sriayudhya seafood, I was cheated by a taxi, a crab, a pineapple fried rice, six Thai shrimp, a piece of asparagus, 4800 baht, the original six to go to pull the train market, the driver said today...eight Half of the open, suggested that we go to the nearby restaurant to eat and then go to the night market, I would like to say that the driver so intimate gave him twice as much as the fare. Do not believe anyone who is passionate about youMore

We got suckered into coming here by our scammer Tuk Tuk driver. Avoid this place!!! It was our first day in Bangkok. We couldn't look anymore like tourists. This "friendly" passer by "informed" us that the temple we wanted to see was closed for the...morning for a "holiday". He flagged down a tuk tuk driver and said he would take us to see some sights for a ridiculously low price. After taking us to a bunch of places we did NOT want to go to try to get us to buy stuff we did NOT need. He took us here and left us stranded. When the bill came, we were shocked. One platter of rice and a fish cost about as much as it did in an upscale restaurant in New York City but in the middle of nowhere in Bangkok. Memorize the name and make sure your driver does not bring you here!More

I am embarrassed to admit that I fell for this scam because I know better. We were in Bangkok for one day and wanted to see the Grand palace so we hired a car and driver from the BS Residence Suvarnabhumi hotel for six hours....I will make sure to mention this in a separate review of the hotel so others are aware that this was the hotel driver who was in on this scam. I am aware of taxi scams and have avoided them in the past. After 5 hours of driving around Bangkok I was trusting our driver and because we hired him from our hotel we felt that we could ask his advise on where to have lunch. He must of called ahead to let them know that we were coming because we were met at the car by what seemed like a helpful restaurant employee who walked us inside and insisted that we try the lobster. He seemed helpful and picked out the freshest one for our lunch. We had one lobster and a large hand full of steamed clams. When we were done no one seemed to want to bring our bill and we had to find someone to get it. When it came we were stunned to see a bill for 5700 THB. We had been enjoying meals throughout Thailand that were triple the size and much fresher for 1700 THB or less. At that point it was completely obvious what was going on. Even though it is bad form to lose your cool in Thailand I could not help myself. I found the guy who picked out our lunch and after 10 minutes of me in his face they reduced our bill to 4000 THB. (Still ridiculous) This guy seemed used to this routine. Our driver did not have much to say on the way back to the hotel and I told him it was too bad that we got ripped off because we were going to give him a big tip. I guess I needed a wake up call to be on my toes in Bangkok because the Thai people were so welcoming elsewhere in the country. Lesson learned!More

Went n listen to the taxi driver who told me this restaurant very good n very Thai - what a scam !!! 1 fish 1 squid n 2 vegetables dishes cost me 6000 baht !!! They don't even give u receipt to confirm what u...paid - queried them n they told us seasonal price. I just realized so many others have been scammed - wonder whether we can complain to the Thai tourism board - so bad image for the Thai people which are so so friendly and decent most of the time.More

This restaurant is also known as Somboondee seafood market. We had terrible service from surly wait staff, with no greeting or welcome. Very unusual in Thailand. The crispy fish was very good but the crab with green curry sauce was very bland, more like scrambled...eggs. The crab had no taste. The vegetables (morning glory) were overcooked. Worst of all was the bill! $150 for 3 people. That's a lot of money in Thailand.More

We came to this restaurant by recommendation. I will say that the food was good. However, 3 of us had a modest LUNCH and we were shocked at the $348.00 (U.S.) 11,840 baht check. That's right, $348.00 for lunch. Three of the items ordered, a...1 1/2 lobster which we were charged $120.00 U.S., grilled Sea Bass at $70.00 U.S. and 6 Gulf Shrimp at $66.00 were big share. Really??? $11.00 for one fried Gulf Shrimp?? To add insult to injury, a 10% service fee was added as well as an additional 7% service fee. For what? They claimed it was on the menu but the bottom of the menu where the fee was supposed to be was marked out. They conveniently had an unblemished copy of the menu at the register. Finally, they miscalculated by adding approximately $40.00 U.S to the check. To this, they had no explanation accept for an apology. Then, to top it off, they claimed their credit card machine was not working and asked if they could drive us to an ATM to pull cash. I refused and asked for the manager. My waitress claimed she was the manager, We then asked for the owner. They claimed he wasn't there although I suspected the Asian gentleman watching from afar was the owner. After a somewhat uncomfortable scene, the gentleman walked over and admitted he was the owner. He was barely apologetic and offered to reduce the check to $270.00 (U.S.) We asked that he contact the police as I was confident in what I had in hand that he was deliberately trying to take advantage of foreign tourists. Of my whole stay in Thailand, this was the ONLY incident. We ate almost the identical meal in Chinatown for less than $70.00 two days later and the Sea Bass was fresher. After waiting for about 30 minutes for the police to arrive (I suspect they never called them) my friends and I came up with the $270.00 U.S. cash and paid the check before we made a bigger scene and ruined our phenomenal vacation in Bangkok. If you do decide to take your chances, do yourself a favor and bring insect repellent as the seafood market attracts a significant amount of biting insects which made the experience that much worse. Please believe me when I tell you that these people are dishonest thieves and could care less about you catching them trying to fleece you. Buyer beware! I'll be going back to Thailand but never to this place and as long as I remember what they did, I'll always let the public know.More

We asked taxi to take us to Tip Samai, he said it is closed will take us to great restaurant. 😂 At least we can tell our kids and family this was the worst scam. Bad food bad service. And do not ask about the...bill, they just added an extra meal and taxes that do not exist. Stay away, and report this to your hotel as this give Bangkok a bad name.More

Interesting place. The lamb shrwama had an old cooked-meat flavour which was dissapointing but not suprising as they only spin and heat the meat once requested. Otherwise I belive it remains at room temperature. The saffron rice was nice, the chicken sewers were OK, but...had to return a whole baby chicken smothered in rice due to an oldish/microwaved meat flavour; once I broke through the hidden rice over chicken the old chicken aroma hit me. OK, but may regret it.More
