I have been to Jack's Bar on the Chao Phraya a couple of times and highly recommend going. Food is fine, but it is the location (and cold beer) that people come for. Nestled next to the Shangri-La Hotel, Jack's is a local, Thai style bar & restaurant. Very down to earth, it is the complete opposite to the five... More

Good - taste of food 음식맛은 괜찮은데 Bad - expensive more than i think 생각보다 비싸요 분위기는 허름한 로컬 바 같은 느낌이지만 맥주가 100바트이상이라 조금 비쌉니다. 음식은 나름 괜찮았습니다.

We came across this bar by sheer chance ... and what a find ! Local bar on the river bank.... local beers and local food...it is what every tourist wanting to experience the 'real thing' strives to find. We arrived about 11am and left about 5.....ice cold beers all day long and tried every dish on the menu. Service was... More

Interesting little bar/restaurant right on the banks of the Chao Phraya river. Food looked fine but just stopped for a beer. Excellent spot for watching the river traffic with an unspoilt view. Nice way to spend an hour on a hot Sunday afternoon. Almost opposite the State building off Charoen Krung, a small Soi off, perhaps a two hundred meter... More

Nice little pub overhanging the river. Only a few blocks off the elevated train and off the beaten path. Great spot to take a break from exploring the city and watching the river traffic go by. Cold Thai lagers and a decent menu of foods. Good friendly service. I like Jack's story printed on his menu. Would come back here... More

The staff were very welcoming; it appeared that there were no tables left however in a few seconds they had a table setup for us. Not a fancy place but cool atmosphere and great value. A nice break from the higher prices of the surrounding luxury hotels! Food was good and cooked to order in the small kitchen right in... More

Visited here on numerous occasions while visiting Bangkok. The place is a quirky shack on the river serving basic good food and cheap beer and spirits in a no frills enviroment which with the lovely smiling staff adds to a great day or night out. A must visit place.

We ended up eating at Jack's 3 times. Food was good, price was right and the views of the river and the river traffic were great. It was located right next to ferry for The Peninsula hotel so made it convient to stop off for Chicken Satay or Pad Thai and a couple of local beers.

Hidden Gem! We stayed to the Shangri La next door! Which I already reviewed a fab hotel! But this is what it is a shack/tavern next door! I could see it from breakfast!! We had late lunch and drinks on 2 nights and its Fab! Staff great! Beer a lot cheaper! Great vibe!! Will hopefully go back!!

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
