I've been going here for years but on my last visit I saw that the Silom Complex where the restaurant was situated had been remodeled and that the place was not there.

Food was great. The restaurant was business for Sunday lunch but we managed to get a table for a party of 2. Sunday appears to be mostly family affairs for dim sum. We had; 1. Har Kow and Siew Mai Both were very good. Thin pastry and crunchy prawns 2. Goose web with mushroom. The sauce was outstanding. Great dish.... More

Travelled to Bangkok for the weekend and decided we would go for a Chinese and chose Shangrila Kitchen as it was close to the hotel. The food was average but delivered quickly but the service was among the most miserable I have ever experienced. I wanted to order beef 'hong kong style' but when I asked what 'hong kong style'... Tried this place on impulse for an early supper. Shouldn't have bothered. Very disappointing, tepid, bland food, tasteless "brown" sauce on the mixed vegetables. No wine, few beers. We're struggling to find good restaurants around our hotel, but after this we'll have to keep looking.

Thai type of Chinese food.. Crowded... Service is average... I find the food here very oily and a little salty even after telling the waitress to tell the cook not to add too much oil and salt.

This hotel and its restaurants are really out of my price range, but they do a buffet ( eat as much as you want) on a Thursday evening. The quality and choice are everything you expect of a 5 star hotel, a really memorable night bang on the river at a decent price. (£ 20-£25 each)

Quite a disappointment with the food, very heavy, seasoning is weak and it is easy to find much better chinese elsewhere

Why have so many Thai restaurants and hotels lost the art of service? The cafe at the Shangri-La is a great example of staff that don't seem to care. The food was mediocre at best and very expensive for what it was. Never again and be warned

This used to be top notch restaurant years back, but now there is much better place elsewhere. When I arrive, I did not feel clean. The floor and table where we sat were dirty. Food taste quite good, nearly a hotel quality. Steam fish in soy sauce was my favorite. But if I can choose and money was no object,... More

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
