Searching for a restaurant that served south Indian non-vegetarian food was a major headache. There were no dearth of Indian restaurants listed for Bangkok but almost all were North Indian, the few sigh Indian listings all seemed to be only vegetarian. So it was a great joy when we found this restaurant. It is very simple, non-pretentious and serves a... More

Still cheap and good food compared to other shops, shud maintain the price as some Thosai sets are close to the price of meals. Taste wise is still the best and friendly staff

We had south indian meals here. Rice quantity was not sufficient for me though, however the taste of the dishes was good. Breakfast was really nice. We had ghee dosas, poori and idly. Prices are very reasonable.

If you are yearning for good dosa (thosai) and idli in Bangkok, this is the best place to go. Nothing fancy about this place. It's very simple. Their other speciality is mutton fry. You can't get this in any other place in town.

If you're looking for authentic "meals" in Bangkok, try the Tamil Nadu Cafe on soi 11 Silom. The decor is modest but the food more than makes up for this. From genuine crispy thin dosas to meals, the food will make you feel that you have arrived in Chennai. At THB 200 for a veg meal, you get 2 vegetables,... More

Dropped in for lunch today. We each had Masala Dosa and sweet lassi. Dosa was excellent and the sweet lassi was outstanding. Waitress smiley! We'll be back.

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
