Hands down, the best Mexican food you'll find in Bangkok. The fare is fresh and authentic, and can be had just as hot as you like! The place is small and the wait can be lengthy on a weekend night, so plan accordingly. It's a cozy, not-too-brightly lit atmosphere and can be a little loud if you're looking for a... More

Atmosphere is authentic as owner is Mexican, service is fast, food tastes wonderful. Fried prawns tortillas and chicken burrito were amazing, make sure you order guacamole and salsa set as well so you can add up these for your dishes to become even more tastier, spicy and juicy! I hardly recommend and if I was living in Bangkok this would... More

Having read all the reviews on trip advisor decided to check this place out and what a disappointment, for starters our nachos came with sliced olives (yes olives!) instead jalapeños. Extra charges for sides (sour cream & jalapeños which never arrived! Our food arrived within 5-6 minutes which, is never a good sign - food was thrown together, dry and... More

Have lived in Bangkok for 1,5 year and fancy Mexican food. Took a while before I found this gem, but it's by far the best Mexican I've had in bkk so far. Margaritas are tasty (and strong) and the enchiladas and fajitas really awesome. Try their prawn toscadas and salsa mix. Today we also had awesome live music.

There is no better place for Mexican food in the entire city. Tacos & Salsa isn't 100% authentic but it's the closest thing you'll get, and given how dismal the quality of other Mexican places in Bangkok is, you'll be grateful for it! Also has a great vibe, with a touristy but young and fun clientele, excellent English-speaking staff and... More

Good Mexican food, quite reasonable price friendly staff. Make sure you book on Friday and Saturday as it's very popular with locals and expats

Everything here is prepared with care using many home recipes. We stopped in for a quick nosh and were happy with our meal. The non-traditional chicken wings were spicy, crispy and delicious. We ordered a second helping. The guacamole was chunky with fresh homemade chips. Margaritas were very good, limey and fresh tasting without the syrupy mix that so many... More

Wanted a good Mexican meal here in Bangkok and this place didnt disappoint. I ordered the grande wet burrito and not only was it huge but also very flavorful. All in all it was a very satisfactory meal, the margaritas tasted authentic, the we burrito was very good, and service was friendly and fast. I will come here again. Keep... More

The restaurant was well decorated in Mexican theme and was wonderful to be sat in. Located just around the corner from our hotel we stayed at the restaurant was well located and the staff were very accommodating and friendly willing to let us try the masks and hats on and make total fools out of ourselves. The food was of... More

Nice hidden little place with a Mexican feel to it. Staff and owner is very friendly, but unfortunately the food fails to impress.

We will me moving up the street on Soi 18... mid soi, and will need to close to make everything perfect for you! We will open on the 9th of February at our new location. Sorry for any inconvenience or unfulfilled taco cravings we may cause ;)

Tucked away at the very end of Sukhumvit 18, Tacos & Salsa is a little hidden Mexican gem in the busy city of Bangkok. A favourite to expats and tourists as well as locals, Tacos & Salsa pride ourselves in serving authentic traditional Mexican home-cooked food that "brings Mexico to you".

Famous for flavourful sizzling Fajitas: marinated boneless steak served with grilled peppers, guacamole, tortillas, beans and rice, served on a hot plate, all our recipes are prepared as if we were back home in Mexico.

Best strong margaritas in town, classic (lime). Honey lime, passion fruit, mango, strawberry, peach and black currant

Taquitos de carnitas or pork al pastor have that Mexican street-stall taco taste, and are best accompanied with our 6 homemade salsas.

Come join us for a flavourful, chill-out Mexican time from 3pm to 11pm, daily.

For table reservation or more information on group party hosting (our second floor is able to host 25-30 people), please feel free to contact us.

Altogether, this restaurant had the potential for creating an excellent experience, but the usual downfalls at a Thai restaurant semi-ruined things. The usual downfalls are there is no will to communicate with customers and the attitude that you should just accept what we serve you when you come to OUR restaurant.

For myself I had no complaints. Food was brought promptly, we were taken care of quickly, none of the usual Bangkok restaurant tricks where the waiters pretend they don't see you. Waitresses seemed relatively relaxed and happy considering how many foreigners must come in with all of their demands etc.

Food has character and is much healthier and better tasting than the salt festival to be attended at Sunrise Tacos. I had the hope that more esoteric dishes than are usually seen at any Tex-Mex joint in the U.S. might be on offer, but of course the actual Mexican clientele cannot be much and this restaurant's market are probably mostly Aussies and a fair number of U.S. Americans who don't hail from areas with big Mexican-Mexican American communities. So, the hard stuff, tacos de la cabeza or steaks and bar-b-qued meat..what have you, I forget, I am guero anyway, so what would I know, but I have a sense of there often being a wider range of dishes at restaurants I have been to in Mexico or south of Mission in San Francisco etc.

I give a plus to the decor, amazing to see a Virgin Guadalupe painting right next to the Thai Buddhist alter with Nang Ka beckoning etc. And another plus for the rabbit deity and the stencil geometric motifs on colorfully sponge painted walls. My margarita was OK, could have been a bit stronger, I asked and felt the request was not appreciated, the answer was, "Well, I've already put the tequila in." I just chuckled and said, "Well, don't worry if you happen to spill a bit more in, I won't mind!" Not funny. Never mind, just order a shot of tequila and toss it in, which I did.

The salsa set is well worth it. I thought, gee, I have to order salsa as a separate item along with the chips which I must also pay for? OK, whatever, I am not in California. But, the salsas you get were way above the free stuff you get at La Taqueria back home. Very thoughtfully conceived of and executed, five or six different kinds and representing the full array of salsas you may encounter and then some. I particularly like the the very dry dark red one, I have never seen a salsa like that. Gourmet in my ignorant guero estimation. Chips were also nice and seemed home made, though who knows.

The Spanish rice was also excellent and beans were solid, obviously home made and not Rosarita Refries from the can you get from Sunrise Tacos. These, for me, are key factors, the beans and the rice and the rice was stellar I thought. Almost seemed like Japanese rice which is an improvement.

The problem, and I will down grade on my rating a full star, was the tacos. The menu specifies that the fish is grilled and what was served clearly was not grilled fish. My wife could not deal with it. It was not only fried fish but very oily battered fried fish. And the final dagger was that it came garnished with a pubic hair. I kid you not. My wife, who is Thai, just politely and quietly sat through the whole meal on the verge of vomiting while I enthusiastically tucked into my delicious and well prepared plate. "What's a matter honey?" "Oh, nothing, I'm just tired." She didn't want to start a fuss in the restaurant.

OK, to be fair, stuff happens sometimes. You get a pubic hair in your soup like Elmer Fudd when he visits the wascally wabbit's westawant. OK. But, I had the impression this restaurant is aiming to fill a middle level niche that is sorely missing in Bangkok and in abundance in places like Chiang Mai, and that is: middle priced well prepared food. It seemed that is their intention here. But, I would suggest that If the owners don't get a handle on their Thai staff who running the place the night we visited, staff who come from a situation here in Bangkok in which there is little appreciation for sincerely well prepared and reasonably priced food, they will find the restaurant being comprimised in the way that almost every place is here. "Eat your food and pay and never come back!" Many Thai people I know in Bangkok take zero pleasure in eating out, they are just fed up. You go out because you have no time or whatever, you just endure the experience.

If this place, which is still far better than 90 percent of the restaurants in Bangkok is to improve the waitresses and the cooks need to communicate and the waitresses need to communicate to the customers that actually the fish in the tacos is fried not grilled this evening, is that allright? It is a big difference between fried and grilled, but I know, the culture is to say nothing like, "the fish is fried and not grilled." You are just supposed to imagine that the fish is grilled. If the restaurant seems to be trying to go to pains to be serving food which is above and beyond the usual indifferent vaguely rude Bangkok gruberia, then they need to do their best from keeping their Thai staff from being miserly with portions and lax about hygiene.

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighbourhood Profile
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
