I studied in Thammasat for 4 years (the university next to this road) and local. This restaurant is best known among student because it had been there for almost hundred years!! I'm not kidding or over exaggerated. If you want to know they last so long then try it.

Yes this is an very old Indian restaurant , I have been here several times for the lunch. The taste is good. The service level is acceptable. But the restaurant is very small and too congested sometimes. Moreover, the portion of meal also is super tiny. You have to order a lot to feed yourself.

While the mataba portions are small, it's really delicious. Love the crispiness of it! Nice spot for breakfast or lunch.

Always a queue as such good value. Not particularly hungry so only had a masamman curry roti between us. Really tasty and very cheap.

Had lunch today at this very nice place. Prices are really cheap and the mataba tasted really good!! Also tried the samosa which had a nice taste. The restaurant serves small portions, but for the prices it's ok.

I went December 2016. I could not resist. I just had to go back and this time for some lunch. I had , sea food roti, rice and a chicken masaman curry. Iced milk coffee to go with and I ended with a samosa and a small roll. All so tasty and the prices very good. As usual good service... More

Had the Thai Chicken roti. A tiny bowl of chicken soup with small amount of actual chicken. Very few veges and although the taste was authentic, the quality and size of dishes has reduced. Better value elsewhere but hard to find great food in Banglamphu any more.

Quite small, but very charming and delicious food. On the menu they have a.o. biryani, a variety of Roti and Mataba, and curries such as Massaman and Phanaeng. They also serve delicious sweets as banana roti with chocolate sauce. Very friendly service!

Had green curry, chicken and veggie mataba, beef curry, and iced coffee. Everything was delicious! Best was the green curry. Fantastic and perfectly seasoned! This place is busy, for a reason. Prices were right. 120 baht for a delicious meal with a drink. Would go again.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
