*clears throat* Okay so this is MY FIRST TRIP ADVISORY REVIEW. I live in Egypt and the Mexican food there is a joke. I sleep, eat, and breathe Mexican food. While in Thailand celebrating my birthday, I desperately searched for a Mexican restaurant. My searched turned up Charley Brown's. I quickly jumped to the negative reviews and OMG I spent... More

Dear Lex S Now I have to do something special for your response, don't I? I mean, I can't just say 'Thanks for a great review.' or 'Nice to meet you too.' So I'd better give people the REAL story of what happened last Tuesday... I arrived at work around 4.30pm and there were only two people (a guy and... More

Every time we visit Bangkok we always stop by Charlie Brown's for Mexican and especially on Tuesday nights for their great half price margarita night. Come March the restaurant will be moving to Soi 19 near Terminal 21. Hate to see them forced to leave the current location (great little side soi off Soi 11).

Dear Mudeng1 Thanks for your continued support - I hope you follow us to the new location (we're keeping the same promotional nights, so i'll see you on a Tuesday). It's a shame this little Soi will disappear - we've had a great 13 years here. But there's no stopping progress and it was inevitable that this would one day... More

I never expect to get good Mexican food outside of North America and I am usually correct whenever I have some. The food here was OK, not bad, except they use those taco shells for hard tacos, the kind my mom used 45 years ago when she first learned to make a taco. Their salsa and chis were tasty.

Dear TheMulv Tacos... Just like your Mom used to make! Awesome... We strive to bring home-cooked food to your table and it sounds like it was spot on. The hard taco shells are corn and the soft ones are flour. It's one of the problems of trying to provide authentic food from half a world away. I hope you get... More

Thank goodness for Google Maps guiding you onto this alley-behind-the-alley! Truly a hidden gem. We had fajitas, nachos, and quesadillas. All were solid Mexican food options that we would recommend. Neat atmosphere, very eclectic. Would definitely eat here again!

Dear Marty M It's true, we're hard to find - especially if you're new to the city. There IS a big sign on the street, but it gets camouflaged by all the other signs. But Google maps and Tripadvisor have accurate locations logged for us. It's great to hear you enjoyed your visit. Please bear in mind that if/when you... More

Dear Deninick I think I know who you guys are... the only people to get an alcoholic drink last night thanks to a loophole in the rules? Many thanks for the review - it's great to hear that everything was good. I hope you have a chance to stop by and see us again soon. Best Regards Charley More

I decided to drop by because of the rave reviews. It's Buddha day, so no alcohol and quiet day. I can only rate average for the one food item I ate, (3) soft shell pork tacos Al Pastor. I asked to have them reheated because they were not warm. I've eaten Al Pastor tacos in California and Guadalajara, Mexico. So,... More

Dear C5GALAXY Thanks for taking the time to write us a review. The first thing I want to say is.... You're right! The Pork al Pastor is due to be removed from the next version of the menu. It's erratic - sometimes great, sometimes poor. And the worst thing is... It's made by a locally-based Mexican chef. I apologise that... More

Ordered the fajita, chicken burrito, and chips and salsa. Chips were okay, but a fair amount were broken/small pieces. Salsa was tomato based with minimal/no spice (I prefer a mild and a spicy offering). Chicken burrito was mostly rice, but was tasty. Fairly small for a ~300+ baht though. Ditto that for the fajitas - the beef was tasty ,but... More

Dear MarcoDimSum Thank you for your review. Since the food issues you raised relate to our most popular items, I'm afraid that's down to personal taste - I wish you liked the dishes more, but you're very much in a minority. I think what bothers you most is the service charge and the remainder of your review is tainted by... More

Nice interior, filled with mexican icons, food was excellent, came quick, and had one of the best margarita's ever here. Wasn't a bit more expensive then I expected being in BKK, maybe it's because of the location.

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighbourhood Profile
Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
