Ok, I love DinTaiFung, but sometimes you don't want to stand in line for over an hour. Kai Chi has similar foods, they have a much wider selection and they are very, very good. I preferred the sides. DTF still does better soup dumplings, but everything else, go to Kai Chi.

It is right next door to the original Din Tai Fung and offers similar but slightly more choices. Personally, I felt the xiaolongbao is not as good but some of the special dishes, such as spareribs and deep fried tofu are not to be missed.

Had a late lunch here and tried a beef noodle soup plus their famous pan fried pork bun. Both were very filling and delicious! Highly recommended since their menu is very extensive and if you want to try something other than Din Tai Fung.

We are relatively new to visiting Taipei having spent only about 8 weeks here in 2 and 3 week segments over the past year. So we are still getting used to navigating the restaurants. Like many, we were told about Din Tai Fung and have enjoyed it very much. However, walking on this rainy Sunday, we chanced on branch of... More

The restaurant was best known for its chicken soup noodle, beef noodle and steam buns when I was in college years ago. My family and I stopped by two weeks ago and found it has changed its style and is more tourist oriented. In one hand, the service is better, at the other, sadly, it lost the original flavor. However,... More

I definitely recommend this restaurant - great food, reasonable price, good service. I read about it on Tripadvisor and am so glad I brought my family there to check it out. It is a short walk from Dongmen Station Exit 4.

Shanghai food at its finest. Please try the shrimp in salted egg, this was to die for. We also had the mushroom xiao long bao, which was rather tasty as well.

Just round the corner from the original Din Tai Fung, Kao Chi is a great alternative serving some similar food but providing a different taste to the palate. We enjoyed their special dishes which are highlighted on the menu, with a special mention of the Tungpo Pork (Braised Pork Belly) that comes with buns. This was the BEST dish on... More
