While staying in the Boudhanath area I visited Double Dorje (DD) frequently. Service is a tad slow & it takes time for your food to arrive however the wait is well worth it. Menu items are Nepalese & Tibetan.I had momos on a couple occasions and also had the Swiss Farmers Special (fried pasta mixed with potatoes, an egg, and... More

Host was disrespectful. After waiting for 30 minutes and finally finding the owner, he comes and refuses to serve us at 1:15 PM for lunch. Not for people who are hungry.

Been a couple of times but never had what I wanted from the menu. Had a good soup but would've preferred to not eat buff Momos in the green veg thick broth. Service is super slow. When you use the restroom you'll be able to see how clean the kitchen isn't. Cozy interior and a good place to meet people,... More

Double Dorje is incredibly authentic Tibetan place with great and charming old couple running this place. Everything is cooked fresh, so it needs a bit of time but momo and spring rolls as well as other dishes were great. Not mentioning the fun while trying tongpa - another thing definitely worth to experience in Double Dorje.

Cosy restaurant, tucked away in back streets away from touristy centre. Serving dirt cheap and delicious Tibetan food with comfy sofas to relax back into.

The two hosts came to Nepal 45 years ago from Tibet, and they both clearly love to meet strangers and talk a bit about their super interesting past. Definitely try the Tongba "beer," which is a unique and tasty drink in a hefty beer mug. We also got momo's, the swiss farmer's meal (amazing!), and spring rolls (also fantastic). The... More

When you enter Double Dorje, you feel like at home, you get into a living room that is decorated in a very authentic way. Then you have the most wonderful and smiling person welcoming you to her place. You can call her "Amala" which means "mother" in Tibetan language and she has been running her own restaurant since 30 years.... More
