The atmosphere here is nice, and the staff is friendly, but the food was just average. I expected more given the hype. It was decent but nothing to write home about. My experience was okay, might consider going back only if I have no other options.

A bliss on getting pure veg restaurants... A Big yes to find something so good in thimphu..the rates are also very reasonable and variety available for pure vegetarian...

Hotel New Grand's Pure Vegetarian restaurant is a delight for any Indian traveller staying at the Norzin Lam street in Thimphu.
The food here is not pricey but is very tasty as compared to some other restaurants which I had visited earlier. The restaurant has ample, sufficient staff at work, the service is quick and the ambience is good.
The spread and choices are ample as well. One can choose from Indian to Chinese to Fast food to the Bhutanese Dishes here. The staff is polite and helpful. Washrooms are not the best, but very much usable.
Come here to savour Indian delicacies in the Land of the Thunder Dragon.

One of the places offering good vegetarian food. We had Indian food. It was wholesome and well cooked and the rotis were delicious

Owner and staffs are very cordial of this hotel. Nice, clean and comfortable hotel rooms within budget. The clock tower of Thimphu is just opposite of this hotel. It has a restaurant with a small bar. Food quality was good.

We had a lunch at the restaurant of Hotel New Grand projected as a vegetarian (+eggs) restaurant in Thimphu serving tasty, authentic Indian veg food.
The ambience is nice. However, the items actually available were limited, not withstanding the long menu. The place was clean.
Koftas were well made and chapatis were better than those we had at the other places in Bhutan so far. However, the rice in the pulav was very hard and the pulav had a flavor we had never come across earlier. Daal (chana daal) was undercooked and therefore hard.
The restaurant's location..... in the main market, is convenient.

On 2 days, we had our lunch there.
The ambience and service are good.
The taste of Indian vegetarian food too was ok.
The price of food is quite reasonable.
The people here are polite and friendly.
They have clean wash room facilities too.

We were looking for a good vegetarian restaurant in Thimphu and New Grand was suggested by our taxi driver. We went with his suggestion and decided to have our dinner here.
The place was full of Indian travellers, could be because it's a pure vegetarian place and hence a preferred choice. The menu had quite good options. They do serve South Indian food too in the mornings.
Our order was taken fairly quickly but it took a while for the food to arrive. Long wait time (per Indian standards) is quite common in Bhutan though. Food was served fresh and hot. The taste of the food was good too. The best part was that they served wheat phulkas / chapatis in a casserole. Since we found this place decent we decided to eat our lunch too here the next day.
Please make sure you place your entire order (except rice which is always quickly available) in one go unlike in India where we order one course at a time.
They do accept credit cards with 3% extra charge on the total bill and you go to pay the extra charge in cash.

I visited only the restaurant at this Hotel. It is located at the Clock Tower Square and serves up delicious vegetarian food that is predominantly Indian cuisine.
It also has a bar attached.

First of all it's not just a restaurant, it has a lot of rooms to stay for and too very good ones.
I had visited Bhutan in the month of December.
and I found this hotel right on the main lane i.e. Norzim La.
The entry of the hotel is not that Grand and alluring but the rooms are clean and wooden floored which you need basically in winters.
Also the heater worked pretty well.
and most important thing was that it servesa very good indian vegetarian food which was very helpful for me as I am a pure vegetarian.
According to the prices a very good value for money.

We had been here for lunch. Happy to have variety of vegetable and roti. Even dal rice was good. Rates are ok and most of our group members who wanted to have light lunch have opted for this place.

Best thing of this hotel is their services and cleanliness.. we all loved it . Rent of this hotel is ok. But food is little bit high. But rooms and other things are ok .

Non-vegetarian restaurant with Lodge. Bhutanese non-veg and South Indian foods are available. Serves alcohol, beer and homemade wine. WiFi was smooth, room heater and geyser/water heater worked as expected. Samsung LED TV was installed in both rooms.
Stayed for 2 nights, six people in two rooms.
Situated at prime location of Norzin Lam, holds nice view of clock tower.
Very friendly and helpful hosts. Didi helped us to fill up route permission form of Immigration Office. She managed a Maruti Suzuki Eeco - six seated taxi for us and also negotiated with the driver for a good price.

Visited for lunch during our trip to Thimpu during May 2017. Situated on the main bazaar road of the city. Though had to wait for sometime, the food was reasonably good. Waiters were like robots, no greetings, no smile, they work deligently. The lady managing the counter took the order while you were waiting for seats in the reception area, thus, saving time and the food arrived in a jiffy immediatetly after we got seats !! This was really time saving and increased their business, because of fast rotation of customers. Worth the waiting and money. Can think of going again if opportunity arises.
