I have tried cuttle fish, bitoque and picanha and all were really good. The food is pricey but its Luanda so you expect it.

I have been last month in November 2017 to this restaurant during a saturday, and the service was the worst you can get. I was about to order a take away and I was kept waiting for 15 min standing in the cashier just to...make the payment( which I haven’t made) and no one before me in queue. They were all running and confused, the managers treating the workers in a very bad manners, so I just gave up after 15 min for payment, and went to another place.More
Good, typical Portuguese, food and well priced. Came in at a busy time but the service was good, contrary to some other places.
The Food a this retaurant is usually very good. They serve just about anything from the menu and have daily special that are usually composed of five to 6 dishes to choose from. It is a good value for money as most of the place...are big enough to share between 2 people. It is dificult for one to actually finish a dose of food. A tree course meal should cost around AOA 7.000,00 about ($40 BNA Rate). Whish is good for Luanda.More
Visit Restaurante Sao Joao for delicious gosht, however the menu here is not apt for vegetarian lovers.
Nice location though parking can be challenging during the week. Really excellent Portuguese food and you get huge portions for a very decent price. Make sure to try the polvo a lagareiro or bife. Also don't be shy and have the chocolate mouse for desert!
Recommended to visit this place when I am in town and ordered Naco na pedra. It's beef cooked by yourself on a hot stone. The staff will replace the stone from time to time or upon request to ensure you have a great time cooking...your meal to perfection.More
This is my 3rd review of this Restaurant. Nothing changed about the second one I made a few years ago. Quality service, nice food and affordable for Luanda. A mix of Portuguese and Angolan cuisine. Tasty food made with love and passion as if they...were cooking for the president. ExcellentMore
Very good food, nothing to say. The location is not the best and is not that cozy. Maybe to pricy for the set up. Having said that the food is excellent, one of the best i have had in Luanda. Generous portions, perfect cooking, fresh...fish and meat, polite and gentle service. A good experience overall that make you forget the location is not the top. Definitely a must try.More
This was my second time to the Restaurante Sao Joao. The first time was outside under the many fans. Loved it. Had a great fish dinner, lovely cold beer and a nice time. This time, the proprietor took us inside in the air-conditioned restaurant. The...cool was welcome. Had the grilled prawns and calamari starters. Excellent! Had the grilled octopus/polpo for the main course and it was superb. Service was nice. The beer was ice-cold. A great time was had by all!More
We booked and reserved for 17 and ended up with 24 for evening with friends and co-workers. The staff was very cordial and quickly added settings for the additions without any questions asked. For the entire evening the staff was quick to serve , deliver...and be available for any needs. With such a large group, our expectations the food would take longer than expected and have a few problems but that wasn't the case at all. Everything came out hot, well prepared and was tastefully better than our previous visit about 3 months ago. The only issue we encountered was that we thought when our bill came out it was complete but then we got a second bill for drinks after paying fully for the first ticket.More
Walkable from our apartment, we went with a small group at 5pm to have a few cold draft beers and then dinner. Service was better that normal for Luanda but it is still an outside environment so be prepared to fight the flies. Beef was...good And the fries were hot but the beans were cold. We would go again to give it another try since it was close to homeMore
Food is good, the restaurant is spacious and the service is good. However, they don't have that much when it comes to diversity of dishes.
Despite having been there a few times advise you to visit this restaurant is a good restaurant, good food, hotimo room service. Worth visiting.
I was really impressed. The service was great, food was great, and the restaurant was full! I had the grilled shrimp and my husband had some type of steak that came with rice, beans, french fries, and my favorite, grilled pineapple! We will be going...back!More
