We tried to find Le Minaret while in Tozeur last Saturday, but we were told it has closed. Not sure whether this is true, so maybe others can check to confirm or correct.

We were the only customers at noon on a January day at this restaurant, and we were in a rush, but the owner was welcoming and accommodating. The decor was fun though a bit tired. Our food was served promptly and I really enjoyed my Tunisian lamb couscous. My friend did not enjoy his stuffed peppers as much, but he... More

The owner - not a local - has a definite attitude, not very welcoming. We arrived with the hope of eating a dromedary steak, not available. Fine. Beer (non alcoholic) finished more than a month before and almost proud of not having gotten a new supply. Other than that the food was fine but not great. The decor of the... More

Food glorious food - this is what I've been hoping to find, a shame I'm not in Tozeur longer to be able to dine again. Let's be honest here, Tunisia's dining options and quality haven't been that great - hit and mostly miss - but do make the effort to go to Le Minaret. Inside dining is small so get... More

Le Minaret is located just downtown Tozeur in the backyard of a Mosque. If you seat outside you can see the Minaret right over your head. Of course, being so close to a place of worship, you can't expect to be served with any alcoholic beverages and unfortunately also an-alcoholic beer was finished. Even if mentioned in the menu, mis-en-bouche... More

Located centrally in town within a main Mosque complex, this gem stands out from all the places I dined in Tunisia; it's the only one that inspired me to go twice. Reasonably priced, all the items I ordered were very tasty. I noticed that another reviewer noted the camel meat was tough and inedible, but that wasn't my experience. It... More

Le Minaret is down an alley off the main street of Tozeur. There's a sign to it from the street, you walk up and turn right through a beautiful wooden door. As you walk up the hall you come to an outside seating courtyard, with low tables and cushions/sofas, under a palm tree and lovely soft lighting. Inside across the... More

We ate here three nights running and were allowed to have the six dinar Ramadan menu, which was excellent. On the third night my wife ordered a la carte at three times the price, but ordering the mixed grill was a mistake, as both the lamb and camel were so tough as to be inedible. Everything else we ate here... More
