A nice restaurant, small one that gives it an intimate atmosphere. Food is good, kind of Medi fusion, tasty. Service is great, host is very welcoming and helpful. If you are looking for a meal far from the big and crowded restaurants and looking more for the food and eventually intimacy, that is the place for you in Dar.

This restaurant is a very delightful restaurant. It is situated in the Little Theatre complex in Oysterbay in Dar es Salaam. From Ali Hassan Mwinyi Road, you turn right onto Haile Selassie Road and then first left after 100 metres, just past the church. You need to enter the Little Theatre compound to get to the restaurant. The restaurant is... More

just have to say, another great evening for me and my five friends. The decor sets a great ambiance, we each tasted our friends food we were so excited by our choices. The sweets left us delighted. One of my favourite places to eat on the Peninsular. Thank you.

When I first came to Dar es Salaam 2 years ago, one of my favourite restaurants was GourRmet which, at the time, was located in Mbezi. I loved the food and the service there as well as the amazing location. However, due to its location some distance from the Peninsula, the owners found that it was not viable. So, temporarily... So Gourmet have a new place. Although it's a different set up, with a few tables above a theatre, the style still reminds you of their former garden. The menu has changed, but the dishes coming out of that kitchen are definitely one of the best in town!

A bit of a pretentious name for a restaurant, which , at present , does not live up to its name. Either that or we chose a bad night. Food was average, nothing startling and some flavours not mixing so well -jalapeno chillies with the more subtle tastes of a red snapper. Perhaps I am old fashioned! Atmosphere could also... More

I went to gourmet on Tuesday, January 19th about three days after its reopening. It's a bit tricky to find on a newly created upstairs balcony overlooking the courtyard at the Little Theatre. The menu was the same high quality but reasonably priced food that I was extremely impressed with when I first dined (and TA reviewed) them at their... More

GouRmet Bistro re-opened January 15th 2016 at our new location on the roof of The Little Theatre Oysterbay (located next to Protea apartments and St. Peters Church). We are open to the general public Tuesdays to Saturdays from 18:00 hours. Our new menu is eclectic but also includes some favourites from the old GouRmet menu. The setting is informal and cosy. Bookings recommended.
