Castelli's will always be Moonlight to me. I can remember having take-out fried chicken feasts as a kid, Nostalgia probably gave the restaurant an extra star, but I'm a big fan. The salads are great as well. The bread crumbs instead of croutons make it much better than the house salad at other restaurants.

Our dinner was good. It was a bit different than what I expected but overall was a nice place. I love the fried chicken!

We eat here any time we are close to the Alton area (we can usually find an excuse to come to this area). We love the fried chicken and house salad. We have travelled all over the country and no fried chicken compares.

We were looking for a new Italian restaurant experience in the Alton, Illinois area. We chose Castelli's due to its rating as one of Alton's best. The service was very good with friendly servers. The food was disappointing. We opted for potato skins as an appetizer. For the first time in my life, we experienced potato skins made with a... More

I ate at Castelli's last Saturday (25th). I took a party of 7 with me and we were seated promptly. Although we went at around 3 so it was still pretty empty. I have visited the place when it was "Moonlight" several times, it's changed hands since and honestly it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered. The first issue... More

If you are ever in the area you must have lunch or dinner at Castelli's Restaurant on Fosterburg Rd. In Alton, Illinois. They have the best fried chicken ain't the world. The salad are super and the bread is wonderful, but the chicken is Devine. I went last summer with my cousins and my best friend. The service was very... More

I have been going to Castelli's since I was very young, always loved the fried chicken, still do, I recommend Castell's highly. Do your self a favor order more fried chicken than you can eat put the leftovers in the fridge and the next day you will have the finest cold fried chicken you will ever have. The whole menu... We visited Castelli's - the locals will always know it as Moonlight - and the meat tortellini was wonderful. The white cheese sauce was hot, rich and thick, the pasta tender and the whole dish seasoned just right. The service was very good - bread & butter before was a nice touch - and the salads more than fine. Moonlight... More

Been going here for years and the fried chicken is my favorite. Large servings. Often will split a dinner. Be sure to order salad with house dressing. The only thing that I have heard is their lack of mashed potatoes to serve with the chicken. Bread and whipped butter here is irresistible.
