This is much more than a coffee shop. They sell coffee by the cup or by the bag to take home along with a variety of other beverages including wine. Their cheese trays are why I keep going back time & again.

I stopped here for coffee and cake in the late afternoon. Both were delicious. The place is modern, well-designed, and clean. It is a truly pleasant place to relax.
The hot chocolate is worth trying as is the coffee. The cheese and tomato sandwich was just that = good and fresh, but nothing special.
Cafe San Rafael has the best Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, cheese down! They have late hours and cater to all palate types for any cheese connoisseur!
Have been going there many tines. Nice surrounding great sandwiches and coffee. Carlos is a perfect host!
This is not only if you "want a break" from local typical food while staying in Copan - it's worth a trip even if you don't think you need a break! During a week's stay in Copan, we went to Cafe San Rafael twice -...once for lunch, and once for dinner. I had the cheese plate of lovely, lovely local cheeses both times. My son had the cheese steak sandwich once and the buffalo chicken sandwich the second time - he said that both were as good or better than what he'd have at any quality sandwich shop in the US - just a good experience all around, with great service and a generous pour of wine!More
It is a beutiful place where you can have some very nice refreshments and can also get some things to buy like wine, delicious cheese, cacao products between others. Love the breakfasts dishes here!! And the service staff is so professional and kind.
Its a nice place, knew it since they were a small coffee shop, I was surprised with their new building, its nice but I preferred the old style restaurant it gave a copan town old look ,prices went up drastically and food portions were reduced.
Menu has not changed prices in 5 years.
Café San Rafael clearly has invested tremendously in their cafétaria. Considering its location in small city Copán, they´re fully equiped with professional machines, a big range of slow brew methods, a roasting machine, and several high-end grinders. Equally the counter, and the interior has been...made with a quality that you won´t quickly find elsewhere in the country. Fortunately, the barista´s are well trained so they do put their equipment to good use - although I doubt there´s a big audience among Copanecos and tourists requesting coffee from the Chemex or Siphon. Their espresso´s carry a full rich flavour, and they´re well trained in latte-art. The breakfast bagel and the small bites that we ordered were very decent as well. I suppose the main thing why I´m not giving a 5-star review is due to the atmosphere. I felt that the design of the place is a bit unpersonal and not very coherent. For example, I was surprised to see Piet Mondriaan styled mugs and menus, which stood quite in contrast to the tall wooden shelved walls filled with wine. It didn´t really feel I was in a coffee shop, or a wine and cheese retailer. Equally the Mondriaan outside of the menu stood in contrast with the more elaborate design on the inside of the menu, which would fit more with the food-court found in Harrods, London. Finally, the wine menu inside reads "Booze for the working classes" - which might be true for the French country-side, but feels cynical to read in Central America. In short, good coffee, very decent food, but the atmosphere of the place didn´t do it completely for me.More
This is one of the nicest places in town, very modern and clean. coffee a bit overpriced, but very good quality. It´s great place to hang around after a long day walking in Copan and abounds.
