I used to travel a lot more to this area and this was always a favorite spot for Thai food. I have not been up here for about 3 years so I was excited to be back there and go back to Toomie's. The food this time was very bland and the service was okay (not bad, not great). Not... More

Fresh spring rolls are 90% lettuce. After the second bite there is no more shrimp. Chicken salad with lemon and mint is good. I had it twice, and the second time was better less spicy. I always order this as a meal and comma trying to avoid carbs, I don't get white rice. But white rice is important to this... More

So we were walking around to find a place to have dinner and passed this restaurant. After walking 2 blocks we decided to return as it looked the best choice. Although from the outside it looks like a hole in the wall, but inside it is quite pleasant. The restaurant is clean and the service excellent with Thai servers (or... More

I left satisfied. Lemongrass chicken salad is excellent. I had it as a meal instead of an appetizer. It would have been better as a meal for two with white rice. The flavor is quite good, but it's a bit bold tasting to eat straight up. That said, I really enjoyed it and would definitely order it again. The fresh... More

It's been years since I was here, and while the food is pretty decent...the wait for the food to arrive is very lengthy during popular times, and they're simply under-staffed and scrambling to keep up. I suspect only one chef is doing the cooking, but have no knowledge firsthand. Our Vegetable Combination in Peanut Sauce with Coconut Milk with Meat... More

Right in the Heart of downtown Alameda. Very good thai food. The ambience is good but is a little on the dark side but the food is good. Service is good and they do take out. Never had a bad a bad meal there. Curry dishes and the pad thai are very good. A good appetizer is a won ton... More

The lunch specials are great. There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from and the portion is generous. The lunch specials come with daily complementary soup for dine-in. I had the spicy noodles with tofu and vegetables. It was very flavorful. The service was efficient and professional. It's great for a quick lunch during the week.

I'm picky about my Thai curries and dishes. Toomie's takes time to cut vegetables uniformly and ensure that the spice level is just right. Tom Kha soup hits the spot when battling a stuffy nose.
