Had lunch out with a couple of friends. Nice ambiance and decor. Tried many items and after having lived in Italy a few years were were all disappointed. The fresh bread and Calamari Fritti were good. Fried Mozzarella sticks (not really Italian) were greasy. Salads were fresh. I ordered the Linguine alle Vongole. I think it was made with cream... Trattatoria Alberto has been on Capitol Hill's Barracks Row for many years. They've periodically updated both the menu and the interior, but have never changed the vibe: romantic yet friendly. The pasta is particularly good, and the wine choices are terrific. You will see a lot of older couples and families with kids. The prices are good, too. Trattatoria is... More

Twice ate decently here so booked for Valentine's night. Horrible, horrible meal. My friend had to send her fish back to be cooked. It was nearly raw. My bread crusted veal consisted to three pieces of thin, dried out mystery "meat." I swear that the tongue of a man's dress shoe would have tasted better. And my "oil and garlic"... More

Alberto's is a Capitol Hill fixture, formerly Nico's (after the late owner). The food is outstanding. We typically order the specials (me the veal, her the fish). Often half price wine specials before 7:30pm.

So this is from my visit two years ago, but was reminded, and thought I better get in my review! I was visiting my son, and we came across this place while walking. The half price for any bottle of wine caught my eye, and we entered. Lovely ambiance-from the crisp tablecloths to the knowledgeable wait staff. I had the... More

My daughter and I went for an early dinner on Friday night. We were seated promptly and given menus right away. Our waiter was attentive and brought us each a glass of wine and water. We studied the menu and ordered a house salad to share. The salad was plentiful and fresh but all iceberg lettuce. My daughter ordered penne... More

Our first visit here, but hopefully not our last. It was truly outstanding. The rooms are cozy, but there are several, so you don't feel crowded. Simeon was an excellent server. We started with a simple salad and the huge antipasto. We all had different homemade pasta dishes--linguine with clams, primivera and a special agnalotti. We really couldn't enjoy dessert,... More

After a week in D.C. we had dinner at Trattoria Alberto. We were in the last hour of service and the place was nearly empty. My girlfriend and I each ordered a cocktail. She had a appletini and I had a great gin martini from their cocktail list. The bread was something to be desired. I ordered the chicken cacciatore... More

This was a very good restaurant . The service was good and the waiter was polite and helpful. We had chicken with Marsala and another chicken dish. Both meals were of good quality and tasted great lovely flavours. The Merlot was smooth and of generous proportions. The price was reasonable for the food served. We enjoyed our meals very much... I've taken the husband and my staff here many times over the years, and every time it is fantastic! I think the people complaining about fresh pasta don't know what fresh pasta tastes like - its not your Cisco crap from TGIF's. This is the real deal - and I make my own pasta at home every once and awhile.... More
