Upscale comfortable Mexican restaurant in downtown Washington DC. Started with salsa and spicy guacamole with chips, which was very different and tasty. There were lots of good choices on the menu, and a dedicated vegetarian menu - nice touch. Service was excellent, very helpful. The food was nicely prepared and quite good. Highly recommended.

We were really looking forward to this restaurant as we love Mexican cuisine and wanted something nice for our last dinner in DC. We made reservations and were seated promptly. First impressions- trendy upscale decor but very loud. We could hardly hear each other or our server. We ordered tableside guacamole, which is a favorite of mine. We informed our... More

Nice atmosphere, nice staff, fast service. Enchiladas were really good and shrimp quesadillas were excellent. The churros were served as dessert with melted chocolate and strawberry. Delicious.

It started with the incredible fresh made-at-your-table guac and just went from great to greater. Try the mojitos. Food was fresh authentic, service was great, out best dinner in dc.

Hip vibe, enormous many tiered upscale Mexican. A step beyond rice beans and enchiladas, this is the place for exquisite sauces and outstanding plate presentation. The wait staff is knowledgeable about the origins of dishes. Tableside guacamole is always entertaining and this one is acceptable.

I'm not a reviewer but I had to share my experience to save someone from a visit like ours. We were in DC for my 8 year olds birthday and saved our "fancy meal" for Saturday night at Rosa Mexicano. We were quickly seated which was good since we were exhausted from sightseeing. Our waitress came over and immediately asked... More

I fell in love with Rosa Mexicano when ate at the NYC resto. Great food, presented well. Good menu, with many of our in-country faves. They do it right.

The guacamole is made right at the table and was excellent. The tortilla soup was excellent and the main dishes were all good. Good place to go if you are in the mood for Mexican cuisine

Stumbled upon this place after a long day of sight seeing. The menu had a lot of awesome options. We decided to try a few and of course along with some margaritas (which were amazing!) Everything we had we loved. I would absolutely come back here. Definitely worth a trip!!

We went here straight after a Wizards game at Verizon. Colleague had pre-booked and this did allow the crowds outside to thin away. My colleague ordered guacamole which came in a large stone mortar with a large bowl of tortilla chips and a side of salsa. Ideal for a group of three or more. The tortilla chips and the salsa... Just west of our nation's Capitol, Rosa Mexicano Penn Quarter location is situated in the exceptionally restored 1924 Hecht’s building across from the Verizon Center. As the first Rosa Mexicano to open outside of New York City in December 2003, this D.C. location remains true to its roots by delivering authentic Mexican cuisine in a stylish, festive atmosphere. The interior features eye-catching details that include 14-foot wraparound windows, a spacious bar and lounge area, and a tequila bar offering a wide range of premium selections and margaritas. Traditional folk crafts have also been incorporated throughout the restaurant, most notably in a dramatic series of illuminated pilasters featuring festive Mexican masks mounted on the wall. It’s a feast for the eyes as well as the tastebuds.
