We celebrated Father's Day at this classic restaurant in Georgetown. The food was fantastic, the best crab Benedict I've tasted. Service however was inexperienced, poorly presenting wine, responding to requests slowly, and failing to inform us that an appetizer was sold out. Tables are on...More

We had the steak frites and the pork chops. The pork chops were fantastic! With the steak meal we thought the steak was okay but it came with great Parmesan fries! The chili was also super tasty. This is right at a prime spot in...More

We really enjoyed this restaurant. One of our guests had crab cake, another the mussels, the salad with strawberries, and then I had the lamb ragu. Everything was great! We had a funny conversation with our waitress about what "housemade bacon" means, and she was...More

We held a cocktail reception here for 100 people, and it went great! The service was the best, circulating waitstaff to make sure the guests had drinks and apps. The apps were very good too! Easily located on M street in Georgetown, I would highly...More

This is a popular place, it was difficult to get a reservation so we went for the 9:30. We went in early and found bar seating and enjoyed our casual dinner right there! Great food and great service, as all others report!

Went for brunch with a group of friends on Sunday. Service was really great, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome. The food could use a bit of improvement; I had eggs benedict and the english muffins were toasted far too much. My wife...More

While I was initially not sure about the place, we took a table out in the back. It was airy and less stuffy than in the main bar. Model aircraft hang from the ceiling and aviation themed posters decorate the wall. I had the mussels...More

Our family had the falafel, chicken #1 and the carbonara. We also shared the blueberry pie and the brownie sundae. Everything was pretty good. You can't go wrong with the chicken #1, the falafel had a bit too much sauce on it but was still...More

Do you still have Steak Tartare available (used to go to Clyde's every time we were in town when older daughter was at Georgetown many moons ago)? IIRC, it wasn't on the menu, but Chef always seemed to find some . . . . . . .

Hi Andrew, I can't recall whether it was on the menu but they are so accommodating I'd ring in advance and ask them the question. Love the atmosphere and level of service. Have a great time :)
Do you have gluten-free options?

Since this is a critical request, I would agree with other correspondents above. It would be best to call them since only Clyde's will know for certain. The number for the Georgetown restaurant is: +1 202 333 9180. If you do... More

Opened in 1963, Clyde's of Georgetown qualifies as an institution. This animated tavern in the heart of Washington's most famous neighborhood popularized saloon food and practically invented Sunday brunch. More than 50 years later, Clyde's continues the tradition, serving classic American cuisine to Georgetown locals and famous faces while passers-by stop in and mingle at the long oak bar. The re-designed interior is an open invitation to the restaurant's life and times with its many travel posters, paintings, and bronze statues. Clyde's of Georgetown remains a Washington classic.
