This small, but not too crowded Italian restaurant is located in a lively brownstone that is painted bright red inside, but is still classy. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. The menu is small but well-rounded. The bartender mixed an awesome drink for me when I said I wanted a sweet cocktail. The Manhattan cherries in the bottom were yum and there was pleasantly not too much ice which is typical of so many places. I was nervous at first when the bread was a little stale since it was not covered. The pesto was delish. I had the filet mignon and it was perfect. I was expecting spinach, but they made a tasty cheese and spinach purée which was artistically served on the plate. The mashed potatoes were just ok and a bit salty. My husband lived the pork shank. My daughter and her husband both enjoyed the lamb gnocchi. I’m not a huge gnocchi fan, but the lamb was delicious. I shared that it was my daughter’s birthday and out came a yummy large tiramisu with a candle. We then also ordered the bread pudding which was very big and moist and served with a flavorful cranberry sauce. Portions were generous and prices were not cheap but customary. It was not too noisy and all of the other staff were very friendly. Overall this is a really great place.

We had Saturday brunch and enjoyed the meal such that we returned for Sunday dinner. When we arrived around noon on Saturday, the dining room was empty, but as the time progress, more people came to eat there and in the outside courtyard. We also found there is dining on a second floor. The dining room is done in an elegany 1880-90s style that is consistent with the architecture of the house. While the main dining room may not be comfortable for small children, we noted that families were in the courtyard with small children during brunch. Service is welcoming and attentive. There is a decent wine list, although at brunch we we order a bottle of nebbiolo, 2015 , the wine on the list was sold out, and 2018 was offered. We were able to find another satisfactory wine. We also found out that on Sunday evening, wine was 1/2 off. For Sunday dinner we had a very fine barolo. At dinner we had the black gnocchi appetizer, and were greatly tempted to ask for it as a full entree. The steamed mussel appetizer had large mussels, that we seldom find in mussel dishes. For dinner we had a lamb gnocchi entree - very good, and Muscovy duck that was perfectly prepared. We were told that the gnocchi is made in house, and the texture was notably right for the dishes. We will return if in DC.

We had a marvelous dinner at Floriana on the night after a big snowstorm. We wanted to eat outside to be safe and had called a number of restaurants in the area. The manager of Floriana said he’d be happy to serve us in their outdoors open tent area. The food was lovely and the waitstaff couldn’t have been more attentive. We were the only diners sitting outside. We had a great time.

Picked it randomly for my son's graduation dinner. In a nice walkable part of town. Old brownstone in appearance. Food was sensational, and the staff was fantastic. Portion sizes were not large, but there was enough to make you full. Prices seemed normal for a city atmosphere. I had scallops over risotto, which was not complicated but it was cooked perfectly and delicious. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Checked the reviews and were good, a friend had recommended the place. Could not tell on the page that there would only be brunch. Limited amount of items. Thought we were going to leave, but very fortunately we didn’t, lasagna was extraordinary so was the duck, great Benedict eggs with bacon, and with smoked salmon. Service was great and knowledgeable.

The location is the best. The food, amazing. The staff, exceptional. The food is all made in house: fresh mozzarella and burrata, homemade pasta. The branzino was in my top 5 ever. The wine, 50% off at that, was great and kept at the perfect temperature. Ask for Quentin to serve you and chat with him. He’ll make your dinner even more pleasant.

We’ve been coming here, since it was on Wisconsin Ave near Sears! We split the cured meat and cheese appetizer—delicious. We had the lasagna and the orecchiette with sausage main courses (large enough for lunch today), which were great. Too full for dessert! Wine prices by the glass are reasonable, but on Sunday, bottles are 1/2 price and you can take home what’s leftover. It’s a short walk from the Dupont Circle Metro, which is great with the high gas prices!! Maria was an excellent server, btw. There is wonderful outdoor dining available. Obviously, we’ll be returning.

Excellent food, wine and service. For appetisers we shared a salumi/formaggio plate and caesar salad - both delicious. I had the burrata ravioli for main course and my husband had the orechiette. They were cooked to perfection and really tasty. Very good choice of wine by the glass and the limoncello provided the perfect finishing touch. Service from Thomas was just right - always attentive and never rushed. This place is understandably very popular. Today we were able to walk in and get an outside table (about 5pm) but over the weekend it had been fully booked. It was worth the wait.

An easy walk from DuPont Circle, Floriana was a nice dining experience. Seating is either inside the old house (a little noisy) or outside under tents. Service was great and so was the food. Mussels were a huge appetizer portion (plenty to share) done in a traditional white wine preparation…tender and flavorful. The caprese salad was also enough for two. The ahi was outstanding…flavorful and tender…served with veggies. Limited wine list but the full bar is an option.

I greed with all who have given five stars for food, ambiance, service, etc. I want to acknowledge Floriana as stellar for single female diners. How I am treated as a single diner influences my reviews. Even if the food is delicious, ignore me and I rate that restaurant with one star. On my second visit while in town, I again experienced flawless service, attention to details, suggestions for dishes, and a willingness to serve a half portion of an entrée so I could try a small plate; and that was the waiter's suggestion. I will add that their special Manhattan was perfection. Floriana is now my go-to restaurant whenever I am in town.

We really enjoyed our dinner here! We happened to visit the last night of restaurant week, so we were able to get an appetizer, main and dessert for $40, plus, Sun & Wed they have 1/2 price wine bottles. It was a double win! We shared everything between the two of us and had a meat and cheese board, Caesar salad, lasagna, filet tortellini with red cream sauce (absolutely fantastic), a tiramisu and a chocolate espresso mousse. Our server was very friendly and helpful when making our choices. Would absolutely visit again!

We were at Floriana for an early dinner (5 pm arrival). We were shown to a small upstairs dining space with the table ready for us, including menus at each place setting. The menu was varied with multiple selections across meat, fish, pasta, and vegetarian options. My salad to start was an excellent combination of greens, peas, fennel, and herbs, and the roasted branzino was a very tasty main course. The service was prompt and courteous, and even when additional diners were seated, we were able to converse with each other without difficulty. My overall rating is an unequivocal 4.

The food and wine was delicious. The ambience was very disappointing. The room was so dark that we needed cellphone lights to read menus. Also the room is so resonant that we couldn’t hear each other speak. Please speak to an acoustic consultant about treating the ceilings. It will make a world of difference. Also, turn the lights up slightly. Customers should be able to see as well as taste their meals. All that said, the food was delicious and the service marvelous. I would return, but will check to see if any changes have been made to the rooms.

We asked for and got outdoor dining on a beautiful night. Btw, good on-street parking available. Very good wine by the glass selection. Server did not rush us at all. One of the best antipasto plates anywhere. We each had a pasta dish—orecchiette and burrata ravioli—which were homemade, al dente and delicious. We finished with blood orange sorbet. We will definitely return.

During the lockdown, their takeout service kept us going with excellent food, well- prepared and carried out to our car. Now the dining room and the patio are open, and so is a "Streatery," where they've set up tables in a parking lane on 17th Street. We enjoyed dinner one evening, and a weekend brunch, protected from the sun by an open tent. The NY strip for dinner was world class, and the salmon benedict was a perfect sunday brunch. Floriana never disappoints.
