Pasta dish was excellent, fresh and flavorful. Filet was delicious though a bit undersized but OK for the price. Bruschetta appetizer was delicious and different as was the apple arugula salad. House bread was focaccia which was very good.

I've been here a few times. It's a bit pricey for me but the Italian food is really good here. Wish I could go more often. Everything is really fresh and tasty.

It had a main dish for my vegan cousin to order and one that pleased my carnivore mother. They also noted the allergies at the table. The pastas are excellent, especially the pappardelle. The wait staff is knowledgeable about the wines on the menu and...More

It was getting hot outside and we wanted a cool place for lunch. Most of the restaurants on the street had their front doors open. Those that did not had a longer wait for a table than we wanted. We got lucky at Lavagna. They...More

I've been to Lavagna, oh, maybe 10 times? Between brunch and dinner? It's a great spot, cozy atmosphere, super friendly staff, great location, and great food. My brunch fave is the Goat Cheese omelette, while my s/o goes crazy for the chicken and waffles (he...More

This is a brunch review only. Went for an early Sunday Brunch. Service was inconsistent but overall good. The table ordered the Marscapone Pancakes, Chicken & Waffles, Italian Sausage Gravy and side sausage. Everything was dry, most notably the chicken, waffles, side sausage and biscuit....More

We both ordered the thick spaghetti bolognese. There was a twist to the usual sauce, a cream added at the end which really gave the sauce a nice richness. It was served piping hot and although the portion didn't look that big, it was very...More

We had reservations just in case. Seating was quite cozy and the vibe of the restaurant was very relaxing. The pasta was very tasty and fresh. They even gave my wife a desert on the house for her birthday. 👍🏿👍🏿

Lavagna opened with a concept to keep food simple, fresh, and Italian, and now one of DC’s exciting new culinary talents has taken over the burners at Lavagna. Executive Chef Alex Ripley was lured to DC by the booming culinary region where his passion for this industry and for food could easily be recognized. Lavagnas’ team is excited to progress with its newest addition. ‘Farm to table’ is an essential drive of this Virginia born chef. A good portion of his life was spent growing up in the Northern Neck of Virginia; which has instilled a lifelong passion for fresh and locally sourced cuisine. Chef Ripley went on to study the culinary arts at Johnston and Wales, where he learned to develop his own unique style and flair. He continued with his career at many restaurants along the East Coast; Morgan Creek Grill on the Isle of Palms in Charleston, SC, Solas in Raleigh, NC and The Founders Inn Hampton Roads, VA, but began his career as Executive Chef at The Mooring in Kinsale, VA.“The complexity of food begins here in the kitchen,” says the Chef, with an idea, and blossoms into something beautiful with only a few movements of a knife, the stir of a spoon, the sizzle of olive oil, and the commitment to provide delicious culinary treats seasoned with passion and the love of food. My philosophy stands true to this day, ‘Italian Inspired and Locally Created,’ - a process that can only begin with fresh local ingredients, sourcing the best of what is available locally throughout the seasons”“Outgoing and passionate about his culinary vision; Chef Ripley has such energy, enthusiasm and passion for his craft,” Owner, Stephen Cheung. “We are thrilled to welcome him to our team and share our passion for the culinary world.”
