Located in the heart of DC, one can only imagine the powerful people who dined at this place and discussed the politics of the day. The food and service were good; the server was equally friendly.

We were extremely disappointed in this restaurant. The server was friendly and the service was fine but the food had no taste. It's very expensive and the only thing that was tolerable was the organic turkey burger. The tater tots were tasteless. The mac and cheese was horrible and so was the grilled chicken. For such an expensive restaurant their... More

This is a DC outpost of a NY restaurant. In becoming a chain it now caters to large tourist crowds and lost its heart. Reliable good food, okay service, just not fantastic.

There seem to be very few casual dining opportunities in Washington - this one is very good. Casual atmosphere with good service and a varied menu.

I came for dinner and was seated quickly which is always good. My server was Jennifer and she did a wonderful job of taking care of me even though she was quite busy. I had a PJ Clarke burger, fries and Coke slaw. I had a Cutlass Amber beer to drink. The food was quite good and the beer was... More

Service was brilliant, even if it was at 10.45pm. Gorgeous establishment. Thoroughly enjoyed a beer with sliders after a long day on the road.

The food and cocktails at P.J Clarkes was great, the service was quick and friendly and the staff knew the menu very well. The restaurant was clean and finished to a high standard. The atmosphere was great and was situated in a good location.

We had a nice lunch last week. There are a lot of choices on the menu but the prices are on the higher side. The staff is very friendly but didn't come around that often. Very good location close to the White House.

Our meal was perfect. Service, perfect. Mom and I had a great time in a fantastic atmosphere! I'm a huge Disney fan, so the greenhouse from his estate being inside was an unexpected delight!!

Description
K Street, the road to the White House, is also the proud home to P.J. Clarke’s—the storied American Saloon with a history that dates back to the late 1800s. The original P.J. Clarke’s in Manhattan has stood beneath rows of skyscrapers for nearly 130 years, collecting famous and infamous regulars. Appreciated for the convivial ambiance and classic fare, P.J. Clarke’s is the quintessential American Saloon.
In our nation’s capitol, the story continues as oak and mosaic floors, red leather banquets and walls lined with eccentric portraits and nostalgic photos contribute to a reassuring familiarity that is classic P.J.s, but also construe a distinct Washington sensibility. Seasoned bartenders make favorite classic cocktails the right way; dexterous shuckers ply the freshest shellfish at a marble topped Raw Bar; and the old-school, convivial dining room welcomes government A-listers, students and their families and visitors to our capitol.
