We also choose to sit in the bar area - either at the bar or one of the tables. Choosing a variety of foods from the bar menu is one of the best experiences. When we visit our daughter this is our Friday night place to go.

We wanted a "not too fancy" place for dinner with visiting family. Excellent duck, very good seafood salad and salmon. Sides were tasty as well. Had to ask for bread - and it came with a hefty charge! Service overall was basically good but we had to remind the waiter of a couple of things. Enjoyed the deserts as well.... More

As others cited, it's a power dinner place...obvious from the other diners there. Which is fine. Was there with family, just to get a sense of that and have a great steak...and we did have a fantastic one. Skipped the appetizers to ensure we had room for steaks and sides. Upon request, they make shoestring fries, which were fantastic. Steak... More

App, soup, cocktail, wine, main, dessert for a whopping $180 incl tip is a bit much for a solo diner. That said, the steak was great (bone in rib eye) and the app was divine (prosciutto wrapped mozza and tomatoes). The manhattan was made with Maker's and was good, but not great. The red wine was OK, but not great.... More

Had dinner here a couple of nights ago and it was fantastic. Staff was awesome. We were seated promptly and the staff was very attentive. I had the filet mignon and my friend had the lamb chops. Both were cooked exactly as we requested. For sides we ordered the Brussel sprouts and the fingerling potatoes. Everything was terrific. We had... More

Absolutely superb service (thank you Cliff). An excellent but overpriced wine cellar. Unfortunately, this place despite the difficulty of getting a reservation is overrated. The food was just OK, barely warm when served and the portions small. The evening left us with a sour note, especially with a mixup in the coat check and a misplaced coat. Not sure what... More

I eat here several times a year. Always great service, top quality food, dry aged steaks, nice wine list. And its always one of the great places to see the "Washington scene" which is on view - just like the meat locker can be viewed. You have to have steak -or at least a steak salad at lunch. Arrive early... More

I was very disappointed in our visit to the Capital Grille. After reading the reviews, I viewed this restaurant as a 5-star steak house. The price was comparable with a 5-star restaurant but the experience and meal was lacking. The steaks ranged from $49-$67 each. The salads were $12 and each side was between $12-15. The steak was delivered on... More

While visiting DC, we were looking for a place to get a good meal before our next adventure and decided on The Capital Grille. It was around 5:00 and although we didn't have a reservation, they were able to seat us quickly. Our server was very helpful in suggesting wines and helping us navigate the menu. The restaurant has a... More

My husband and I reserved a table and it was fab! I had a tomato & mozzarella salad, followed by the veal chop and crime brûlée for afters. The salad could have been a meal in itself - only complaint is that it was too big - was worried I wouldn't be able to do main course justice! Veal done... More
