We went here and had a range of Greek appetizers before we went on to have the main dish in another restaurant. I wish we would not have moved on because this place was special and the Greek appetizers excellent. The atmosphere is informal and the waiters impress you when they prepare the Greek cheese.

The food here is pretty good. We were recommended about 2-3 dishes per person and it was a mezze styled dinner. Whilst the food was good, the scallops and spannakopita parcels deserve special mention, the portions weren't a good size considering the price. Although they were very tasty!!! Their cocktail menu was very innovative and there were some weird and... More

the service was prompt, the tapas style dishes all delicious, and the home made Ginger Beer is the best I've had in a long time with a fresh slice of ginger with lime and generous in its portion. My adult children ordered the french toast like dish with whipped cream topping. The manager visits your table to make sure you... More

Food was very good, service is friendly and helpful. Dinner format is fun - smaller dishes meant for sharing. It made for a fun family dinner that kept 2 university student kids off their cell phones. It was a little pricey, particularly for alcohol. I'm not sure if that reflects pricing in downtown Washington or an establishment that tended to... More

The tourist magazine at our hotel ranked Cava as the second top brunch in DC. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the real Cava. I can't imagine anyone ranking this experience as a top destination. Average plus. Our server explained the small plates concept and the prices were exceptionally reasonable so the portions made total sense. What does not make... More

My husband hosted a birthday brunch for me at cava mezze. Everything ran pretty smoothly. There were 10 of us total and we all did the bottomless brunch and .25 mimosas. We had a great time. The wait staff did a pretty good job of keeping our orders coming. They were a little slow on feeling the mimosas compared to... More

Always a wonderful experience at cava - great happy hour and small plates for dinner. there is a patio, and a roof top area for nicer weather. The inside is a bit darker and romantic, good place for large groups. recommend making a reservation in advance! the staff is always friendly and attentive, Will is the best!

Great place our client took us. So many choices. Not sure I can remember everything we had. Atmosphere was great. Went early so it wasn't to loud. I could see this place being very loud on a busy night. The pork belly was incredible. Spanakopita was one of the best I've ever had. Greek salad was perfect. I think our... More

Not by any means the highlight of our trip, but a satisfying dinner with friends. The small plates helped us to have a variety of selections between the 4 of us, and we paced them to have a leisurely dinner and drinks.

I really enjoyed lunch here! I had basmati rice, chicken, the red pepper hummus, and instead of the cold veggie topping choices I got a side of the hot veggie cup and put that on top of my rice & chicken bowl. It was delicious!

Description
Your neighborhood Mediterranean hangout, dedicated to shared plates and culinary excellence. Find us in Rockville, DC, Clarendon, Baltimore, and Olney. Established in 2006. In the summer of 2006, long-time friends Ike Grigoropolous, Ted Xenohristos, and chef Dimitri Moshovitis came up with the idea for Cava Mezze over coffee. As three children of Greek immigrants, and life-long Rockville residents, they aimed to bring mezze-style dining of from their parents' home to their home. Despite opening their first Cava Mezze in a once desolate shopping center, the restaurant thrives as a neighborhood hangout. From hand-building tables, to smashing tiles, each founder and their family poured every ounce of their effort into making their first restaurant a success.
