What a great place. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in is inviting and lively. I waited at the bar until the rest of the party arrived enjoying a beer. They have only craft beers which I generally am not fond of but the "light" one was so good, I had two. At the table, we ordered the cornbread... More

Super good fresh market food. Trendy place for young professionals and families but not so much with young children, as it tends to be crowded and somewhat noisy. You have choices of seating , but make sure you make reservations! Delicious but expensive drinks. Go try.

I'm not into labels, but I could tell this is a popular and somewhat trendy, but the food and service here is top notch. I would give this 5 stars, but some of the pricing was a little high. The service here was excellent.

Doing some research before our family trip to D.C., I read about Founding Farmers through Trip Advisor and it sounded interesting. I made a reservation before we left Conneticut for D.C. for one of the nights we were going to be in town because I heard that it was difficult to walk in and get a table. Boy was that... More

We were on vacation in DC. The food is great and the service was very nice especially attending the needs of our two kids. The portions are appropriate exactly what it's need it, not those huge portions that you find in other places.

This seems to be "the place to be" in Washington. I was in town for a conference and decided to try it out for dinner based on recommendations. I'm glad I did! The food was excellent. The place was very crowded but we were able to find seat and the bar and we were served fairly quickly. I had the... More

Hello there Dawn, Thank you for taking the time to write a review of Founding Farmers! I am so glad you were able to dine with us while you were in DC. I loved founding farmers! It has a very wide variety of meals to choose from. They create their own special meals and even state that they are fresh and how they are fresh in their different ways. The waiters are incredibly kind, but watch out, book because it gets filled quickly!!

FF in DC is a guaranteed great meal. The food is always good. Interesting unique menu. Locally sourced food. Super cocktails. Bloody Mary my favorite. Often noisy, always crowded. Reservations always needed. Family atmosphere. Knowledgeable waitstaff. Street parking can be a challenge.

We came here after a 5 hour drive from Pennsylvania and had to wait 2 hours to be sitted. The food was delicious, but I wouldn't do it again with that wait, we were exhausted by the time we finished our meal. I would only go back if they sell the cronuts separately and if take-away doesn't take as long.

Description
Founding Farmers, the Greenest Restaurant in DC, is owned by the more than 40,000 family farmers of the NDFU, serving American inspired real food and drink with an emphasis and focus on cooking from scratch. While our restaurant is supplied by hundreds of family farms everywhere, that doesn't mean we know every farm, and that doesn't mean we never have to buy product from the traditional (corporate) supply chain, but it does mean we're working hard to direct our purchasing dollars where it aligns with our values. We're serving the best food we can, made from scratch in our kitchens every day. Our innovative, American dishes are made primarily with pure ingredients honoring the farmers and their hard-earned bounty.
