The worst experience in hungarian gastronomy I've ever seen. Defrosted dishes, rank meat, ingredients not responding to menu.Minimalist portions - fortunately.Annoyed waiter.Scandal.

Based on my experience I have no idea why the restaurant has such high notes. I was there with friends and we waitied for our food almost an hour while there were only 3 or 4 tables taken by other customers. I ordered a duck...breast and could not even cut it because it was just like a sole. But the watiter said he likes it so the duck is good 🙂🙂 I cant say even one positive thing about this restaurant. For what I got and was not able to eat, I had to pay 10 euro... It is really unacceptable what happened there. Other dishes also were not good, at least not for that price. I do not recommend it very much, they seem to not care about customer but rather the money he can leave.More

Not sure if the management was akso new, but in any case, it seems the place has very much improved since last year. The waiter (owner?) was NOT past his prime and acting like it's the 1980s (how rude was that reviewer??) but was very...polite, professional, and spoke English well. We were suggested the house specialities of wild boar stew with halushkies on the side, wild boar creamy soup, a fish dish my husband forgot to share with me, and a baked cheesecake. All delicious! The place was empty when we arrived, but half full when we left. I can imagine it'll do well in the more touristy months, and what's more, it deserves to!More

This restaurant was OK but not much better than OK. A little stuffy. Traditional Hungarian fare. Nothing special. And a bit more expensive than some of the other restaurants we ate at in Eger

We went there on saturday evening. First it was really empty but around 23 o clock came a lot of people - families, groups. The atmosphere were very nice. The food was ok, but my deersoup was too salty, for that 4 stars. Bolognese was...very big portion, the taste was good. I recommendMore

Unfortunately, this restaurant didn't live up to my expectations. Even though decor could seem interesting, you just feel like you're taken back to '80s Hungary. The staff was probably in their prime at that time. Having that in mind, it's funny that the food is...served in a modern way. Weird. I was expecting old, traditional plates. The food itself was just OK, nothing more. Maybe even less. I ordered a fish paprikash, but got fish fillets covered with some sauce. Game meals tasted also average. Prices are mid ranged, unless you order some special game meals. My score for this review is not affected with one waiter's rudeness. I took it for a folklore thing.More

In short, this is an excellent restaurant. Moderately formal without being stuffy - a cloakroom to check your jacket and bags, all the waiters attired in waistcoats and ties. The walls are covered with hunting trophies, equipment (from guns to crossbows) and the odd hunting...horn. And venison and wild boar do feature on the menu, among a fairly extensive range of largely traditional Hungarian dishes. (There are a very few vegetarian dishes on the menu - which is available in English and German as well as Hungarian, but aomewhere to bring Morrissey this is not) . I had brains for starter (served with Frenchman fries ,lemon, and tartare sauce , and salmon steak with potato croquettes for the main course. In both cases the portions were generous and substantial, and the quality of both cooking and presentation first rate. The waiters were attentive and polite without being obtrusive. The place has a warm and semi-formal atmosphere, with live music (a violinist and keyboardist) playing tunes that ranges from eastern European dances to Lionel Richie's "Hello". My main criticism of the restaurant is that a real piano would sound a lot better than a synthesiser. That point apart, no complaints, and I may well return and encourage friends to visit.More

Famous restaurant, but not that good. Ordered Wiener Snitzel for the kids, it was totally dried out. Can be eaten only with ketchup. Our meals were fine, but not any special. In ladies room there was not paper towel and hand dryer didn't operate.

My wife surprised me with a dinner here - great experience! The waiters are exceptionally caring with the customers and the food is really special. I had shrimp for starters then a a wild boar ragout, all was perfect. And ask for a wish recommendation,...it's a must here!More

The family of 5 (3 adults + 2 teenage boys) went there for dinner while on holidays in Eger. The place looked very promising. Lovely traditional decor, live music... We sat outside to make most of it all, but couldn't stay out that table for...too long as music was too loud to have a chat over our dinner. That was fine with us, we simply moved inside. Then one of very keen waiters instead of telling us a bit more about the food, decided to start taking orders right away. That was the first real put off. One of us had a glass of wine, admittedly very nice one, but she had to send it back, as a cloud of fruit flies as circling around it, and it was impossible to drink it. Next the food arrived. Generous portions, of really nice fare. Unfortunately at this point it became clear, that the flies did not go away with the wine. They were flying all over food, and us trying to eat it. A bit of a disaster, it ruined the experience. When bill arrived, we were still charged for the wine, and the staff seemed overall indifferent to our complaint. Despite nice setting and good food I'm not going back.More
