Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed close to 9 Bar and we we wanted to grab a quick coffee and head off to explore the city. I got a latte, which was much needed at 8am, but I also picked up a croissant that caught my attention (check out the picture). It had pistachio on top as well as a pistachio type sauce in the middle and it was AMAZING! I can’t speak to much else as this is all I had but the staff were funny and really friendly.
Just keep in mind that you need to bring cash with you 💰 You won’t be sorry you stopped here.

We visited Budapest earlier this month and stayed in an Airbnb right next-door to 9 Bar. Whether it was luck or fate, we ended up next to the best coffee shop in all of Budapest. It was a no-brainer to try the closest coffee shop to us during our first morning there, and for the rest of the week 9 Bar became our home away from home.
Their lattes & iced lattes were excellent, the fresh and delicious croissants and pastries hit the spot, and our son particularly loved the fresh squeezed orange juice. I normally only have one coffee drink per day — but found myself replenishing 2 to 3 times a day during our week in Budapest.
Located right near Saint Stephen’s Basilica, it’s easy to get to, and the prices are very reasonable for the location. Despite being in a busy touristy area, Bar 9 feels like a quirky and quaint little coffee shop that was designed to make customers feel comfortable and welcome to stay and hang out. They have lots of cool things to look at, maps that you can place pins on to mark where you’re from, and even beautiful acoustic guitars with a sign encouraging you to play as you wish.
The staff was so friendly and made our experiences there extra-special. We were bummed to leave Budapest as it’s one of our favorite cities on earth, and we were also sad to say goodbye to Bar 9 — for now
— because we very much look forward to returning.
One final note: we traveled through several cities and towns in Europe during our trip this summer, and Bar 9 was the best coffee shop of the many we tried while there. Highly recommended.

We read about this coffee bar before we arrived in Budapest and we felt we had to check it out.
So pleased we did. It is such a cosy little cafe serving delicious coffee/teas, cakes and sandwiches. The staff are really welcoming and friendly. You even get an unique design on top of your cappuccino, which always made us smile. The prices are very reasonable and we stayed quite a while just looking at all the memorabilia they had. We actually visited twice in our 4 days in Budapest.
My only complaint is the first time we went my husband got a teddy bear drawn on his cappuccino whilst I got a flower.......boohoo I wanted the teddy bear, but then the second time we went, I got the cappuccino with teddy bear......I was sooooo happy!!!

We went there to have some breakfast. Thankfully a table was available because of a couple who was leaving at that time. It is really small and it seems that the options are limited. We wanted to have the yogurt with the granola but they told us there was only one portiob left who was already taken. It was 11 in the morning... coffee was ok. The croissants were really nice and fresh. Stuff was rushed and the girl in the front -cash- she was polite but also tried to tell the people who were coming in that there are no seats available in a weird manner. Anyhow nothing special. Sorry. Also what is up with that music in the morning? Techno

This place is lovely for breakfast and it is super close to St. Stephan Basilica. Even though there aren't a lot of vegeterian sandwiches the staff is very helpful and will make alterations. Also the coffee is really good!

Unfortunately this tiny coffee shop is rather hidden. But it's worth the effort to find it. Freshly made Paste is de Nata and perfect cappuccino in the morning. He'll yeah❤️

Currently working our way through the top rated coffee shops in Budapest. Have tried about 20 so far and this has been the best (been here twice).
They’ve got some fantastic Ethiopian beans as their single origin, and 9BAR also sell them so we’ve been able to replicate at home.

Small specialty cafe in downtown Budapest, offering a great selection of different coffees as well as home made cakes and pastries. Flat white was perfect, made from a light roasted Ethiopean coffee. Very friendly staff and nice design. Currently only open for take aways due to the coronavirus restrictions

I always prefer local establishments over chains when I travel, so I was pleased to find this delightful little coffee shop just down the street from our hotel. WHAT a discovery!
Rather than endure the crowds at the €15 per head buffet breakfast at our hotel, we queried Google Maps for “coffee shops near me,” then headed about a block up the street to check out 9Bar. It claims to be a fairly new coffee shop with offerings from the ubiquitous espresso to baked goods including rolls, Danish, muffins; and a very generous charcuterie plate.
Preferring to start our day with protein rather than just carbs, we ordered the charcuterie plate to go with our coffees. It took a bit longer than we expected, so I amused myself by grabbing one of the acoustic guitars on the wall, which are emblazoned with a sticker that said, "Feel free to play," so I did.
When the board of meats, cheeses and fresh bread arrived, we were practically overwhelmed. It could have been breakfast for four, not just two, so we made the most of it. We tucked into the board as we enjoyed the friendly vibe of the place, then took about half back to our hotel and stuffed it into the fridge for the next morning. Two meals for the price of one!
The next morning, I went back for two coffees to go with our left-overs. 9Bar charges an extra 50 forint (HUF) for to-go cups, so just be aware. They also give you the option of paying in Euros (which is a more stable currency than the HUF), either with cash or on a card.
They’re open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. most days, and are definitely worth checking out.

Best place we’ve visited while staying in Budapest so far. Such a nice and kind staff! Felt like home and very welcomed. The barista was very nice, we were 3 and we ordered 2 slices of cake (delicious) and she brought 3 forks without asking, such a good consideration of clients’ needs.
Going to be our favourite spot while staying in Budapest.
International friendly and good communication

We got a total of 3 pastries, a quiche, a sandwich, and 2 coffees for about €30, which I thought was quit good considering how pricey things in the tourist areas are. I loved my blueberry cheese pastry, and they had a few different types of coffee beans to choose from. I chose a single origin for my double cappuccino, it was tasty and my latte art was a cute little bear 🐻. Overall cute place and good experience with friendly staff :)

I was attracted by the excellent reviews... and I was very disappointed! For ordering: 1 coffee, 1 cappuccino, 1 latte coffee, 2 croissants (one empty and one with almond jam) we spent a good 6,000 huf (more than €15 to be clear)!!! I'm still wondering how it's possible!! Unfortunately my husband paid and I only found out later or I would have asked for explanations. So for breakfast I find it to be a decidedly expensive as well as mediocre bar: milk with a strange aftertaste, very sweet and therefore nauseating almond brioche. I was disappointed, I don't recommend it.

Cara Cliente,

Nice, small and cozy breakfast opportunity. Nice limited choice for breakfast; from luxury croissants, American pancakes with different toppings to yogurt with granola and fruit. The barista makes delicious coffee with beautiful latte art and a freshly squeezed orange juice completes the breakfast. The atmosphere is casual. Recommended!

Delicious coffee! I normally have my coffee with sugar and cream but tasted it first and the flavor is outstanding and needs no additions. Really smooth Italian blend. Also, get here early so you can have a chocolate Cromuffin! So yummy!

Beautiful wood and parquet style bar, very kind, courteous and available employees for any questions, prices in line with others in Budapest, if not a little cheaper on average than other bars, coffee that has nothing to envy with that Italian (indeed they offer two different types of coffee with different aromas and bodies), showcase with many products. Also not to be underestimated is the table service which most bars in the area in this price range do not offer.
Advised.
