We were bar hopping through Gozsdu Udvar and all the bars were absolutely packed,we dropped into here as this bar looked cool and we spotted an empty table. This is a lovely bar, great decor and furnishings and superb cosy low lighting gives the bar a really chilled out look. A very pleasant member of staff greeted us Warmley and took... More

We were directed to a market called Gozsdu udvar by our hotel concierge and we found this lovely restaurant. We decided to share a goulash soup and a main. The food was superb and it was reasonable too. The staff were friendly and very pleasant. We enjoyed our lunch so much that we went back the next morning for breakfast.... More

First it's not a cafe as the name appears but it's a restaurant and a very nice one actually. + Perfectly located in the heart of the downtown. + It has a very nice fairly priced all day breakfast. + Most of the menu is delicious. + Very wide variety of food and drinks. + It can be perfect for... We ate at the Café Vian in Godszu Udvar, their menu was full of choice and the food was tasty. The mood inside was nice, although the food took a while to turn up, however when it did, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Something to watch out for when tipping for international travellers, there is a 12 percent service charge added... More

Our first meal in Budapest and it didn't disappoint. I had the traditional duck and my wife the lamb. Both dishes were superb. For starters I had the pasta and Jen had a bruschetta. The food couldn't be faulted neither could the service. This is a very lively area of the city with many tempting restaurants to chose from. We... More

The setting is elegant yet simple and welcoming. The atmosphere is warm and laid-back and they played excellent music when we were there. We arrived for dinner at around 9pm and they immediately catered for us. I tried the Hungarian cuisine which was delicious, along with the dry Tokay blend. The service was prompt and friendly. I would recommend it... More

Vian was one of several restaurants, which are open in the afternoon. Gozsdu Udvar's life usually begins at night. So, Hungarian Goulash was too salty, french onion soup was too oniony:) Beer was good. Prices are high in every Gozsdu cafe... Service was not bad, but I didn't like a system when you choose how much money you want to... More

It's close to the office, so we visit the place frequently for lunch. The food is tasty, even the lunch menu is good, although not so big portion. But at least we do not suffer from food coma in the office :) The attitude of the staff is not so good.Service fee is not included in the bill, but the... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
