Visited the place to get some typical Hungarian Christmas candies (szaloncukor) because I thought they wouldn't accept credit card in their outdoor kiosk which belongs to the Vörösmarty Square Christmas Fair (they do :). And if already there, I ordered a cake, too. It was tasty but the chocolate icing was like rubber. When I finished, I had to realize... More

In two words: never again. They were unable to bring out our whole order, because someone forget the half of it. Then when we asked for the missing ones, they repeated this once again, but at least they tried to bill it.. The cakes are not bad, but they are nothing special - you can find much better ones in... Found this great coffee and chocolate cafe when visiting the Xmas market and very pleased we did. Loved the coffee with hot whipped milk on the side. We sampled a few of the cakes but thought the trio collection the best. We thought for the elegant surroundings great service the price was not bad at all. Also brought a variety... More

Aristocratic interior, friendly staff and many things to choose from. I has the apple pie with cream, which was really tasty! My friend had the coffee-caramel cake and also liked it. I'd say it was expensive, but worth it! Pitty I didn't try their famous marzipan though.

Old style cafe and restaurant. Tasty soups and very impressive deserts. The place is located centrally. We tried the leek soup and goulas soup and several well presented sweets ! Recommended!

Sit down for a delicious treat in this lovely cafe. Order a coffee or tea and do not skip the dessert. I actually had a delicious fruit tea and a chocolate carmel cake. My hubby licked the plate after devouring the chocolate truffle cake. Yum yum yum.

This is a place I frequently visit not just for business lunches. Amazing interior, great set-lunch offers and brilliant cakes.

Szamos offers a treat to anyone visiting Budapest. The service, the quality of food and the locale are all very good. We had breakfast at Szamos and we were impressed with the attention to detail. Whether you visit for a meal or dessert, it will be worth your while.

A cozy old cafe with perfect desserts and good coffee. Came here to taste the cake of the nation 2016 ‘The Green Gold of the Őrség’. And it was gorgeous! The waiters were nice ans speak good English.

The service is top notch and the food is amazing. And considering the prices are similar to the cafes in the tourist areas, but with surrounds, food and service that is a million timers better, this is a must go to place. Needless to say that the cakes are sublime and beautifully crafted.

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
