We visited for dinner, arriving at 7.30 on a Friday. I would advise booking as we had because it was very busy. The waitress was quick and spoke excellent English, our orders for drinks and food taken efficiently. The food was beautifully cooked, all fresh and nice sized portions without over facing you. Puddings were gorgeous, the tiramisu lovely and... More

Booked this the morning of the evening we visited so to not miss out. Was right next to our hotel so location was perfect for us! Had a wonderful bruschetta starter followed by a pizza, which was really good. never normally manage to finish a whole pizza, but this one I did as was so good. Lovely to be able... More

Been to La Coppola for a business dinner during the week and you can choose from many Italian restaurants in Budapest. I choose this one because of the reviews on TripAdvisor. First thing I noticed when entering the restaurant was that is smelled a bit inside of the food being prepared. But if you ask for a table on the... More

The food here is exquisite! Excellent thin crispy Italian pizza, excellent fresh pasta, excellent cecilian wine, very polite waiter and reasonable price. Warm and comfortable environment. Highly recommended if you want to escape the Hungarian cuisine and trust me it is worth a visit!! (You should probably reserve a table we were lucky to find one without a reservation)

Their starters are amazing. We had the tuna tartare and the bruschetta but the buffallo mozzaralla with ham also looked delicious. The same taste as in Italy. Super friendly staff and lovely red wine (we had the Merlot). Great service as well. We weren't aware that their Irish coffee was without whipped cream. When we looked a bit disapointed they... Flew into Budapest. I was trying to beat jet lag with a good walk and was intrigued by this restaurant. I had a late lunch and a glass of wine and it was a very good meal. Busy but not loud. Beautiful building. I would definitely return to impress others with this find.

Description
Siculus coquus et Sicula mensa...that is the Sicilian cook and Sicilian table. According to a Roman saying this is the secret to a healthy life. They came, saw and conquered: the Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Angevins, Hapsburgs, the Bourbons...Yes, every one of them! All these people, they left something in Sicily - Trinacria, for example, belonging to Greek mythology, the Gorgon in the middle and the three legs as tips to protect the island. The Arabs, skilled breeders of goats and lambs, and with them their milk, processed caciocavallo, provola pecorino. The testimony of the Saracens from the "sweet tooth" in Sicily is a legacy left by the nuns who handed down the memory, and it is thanks to them that today we have the real dough, cassata and Siculus coquus et Sicula mensa "cannoli". With the succession of all these peoples, Sicily today has a very diverse cultural heritage, that leaves a lasting impression for life, the memories of all those travelers who have had the opportunity and the chance to visit it. Between the oleanders and colorful bougainvillea, under the shade of the thick foliage of olive trees, savoring the delicacies of Sicilian cuisine, including fresh fish of the sea, the warm sun that enriches and gives an unmistakable flavor to fruits and vegetables, sipping her wine noblest, is unforgettable. Equally memorable are the inhabitants of this fantastic island, famous for their warm welcome and availability, full of life, with their kindling a sense of humor, with the inimitable "coppola" placed on their heads, with a joyful noise you preach good appetite. This atmosphere we are ready to offer here in Budapest! "Baciamo le mani!"(kind of typical Sicilian regards) Salvo Sgroi and La Coppola Team

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
