Tapassio is very well located, in Hercegprímás utca 13 (very close to St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and it looks sensational, and the interior design and ambience teleport you almost instantly to Spain.
We were greeted by one of the hosts – I’m really sorry I didn’t ask his name – a sensational guy with some good years spent in the hospitality industry in Cyprus – who had left a strong mark on the way of approach, service. In short, the man knew what he was doing!
He recommended „I Trust The Chef” – a surprise specialty of the location – but we had come so determined and had done our homework so well (or at least so I imagined) that we completely refused the offer and ordered what we had on hand the list almost from the moment I decided to make the reservation: Melitzanosalata – Ciprusi padlizsánsaláta (Melitzanosalata – Cyprus eggplant salad), Muhammara-Paprikakrém dióval és gránátalmával (Muhammara- Pepper spread, walnuts and pomegranate), Mini lángos sajttal, tejföllel, lilahalmaval (Mini „langosh” with cheese, sour cream and red onion).
We continued with Gnocchi gorgonzolával, serranóval és dióval (Gnocchi with gorgonzola, serrano and walnuts), Chipirones – Sült bébi-tintahal (Chipirones – Deep fried calamari), Gambas al ajillo – Fokhalumgas tigrisrák (Gambas al ajillo – Prawns with garlic and olive oil ), Csípős, vörösboros bébi-pol (Spicy baby octopus in red wine), Parmezános sült polenta szarvasgomba olajjal (Fried polenta with parmesan and truffle oil). Everything great! I was so satisfied with the dishes and especially with the choices made that I missed even the most successful dish…
Sensing our stubbornness, the host brought us from the house what we had refused from the very beginning, namely: Vörösboros marhapofa (Beef cheek stew in red wine) – a variant of the Hungarian goulash deconstructed into an authentic tapas. Sensational!

Recommend about 3 dishes per person - I tried the octopus, prawns and beetroot salad (goats cheese), favourite being the octopus. The calamari was nice too. The waiter managed to convince me to try the cherries and ice cream dessert and I have to admit it was lovely. There's a nice ambience in the restaurant and staff are lovely. Our meal (6 plates) Incl. 2 glasses of wine, a beer, water & 2 desserts, Incl service charge was around €53 (HUF 17.4k) to give you an idea of spend.

We visited here as our last meal in Budapest. The atmosphere and setting was very quaint and friendly. The waiters and staff were excellent, very attentive, welcoming and recommended food and drinks to suit. We had the chef recommendations, which is a selection of random tapas dishes. It was fabulous! Everything cooked to perfection and also gave us the chance to try dishes I wouldn't have chosen myself. Reasonably priced for the quality of food and service. Highly recommend.

We have heard from friends about the place and finally my husband and I got here. The menu is varied and constantly updated, you can taste Spanish cuisine in addition to the Hungarian. The wine list is well-selected, but if you are unsure, you can rely on their suggestion. Once you have been there you will want to come back to eat at Tapassio again. You have to come back here regularly. The place is extremely cozy and it seems that great care has been taken to create the environment. I recommend them wholeheartedly, the Mediterranean atmosphere, both the feel and the taste are of high quality.

We are a couple with high culinary experience and expectations. Our review does not represent the average taste and level of finesse most expect when go out to eat.
We choose this resto based on its high ranking and nice tapas pics
We've found some of the tapas excellent, others not that great. Those excellent were fried padron peppers, tripe with Parmesan, grilled lamb chops, goose liver in Porto wine (I would recommend oak aged calvados) .
Those not that great could be improved with a little extra attention that is highly recommended at this price level. example: the chili garlic prawns .... a little bitter due to over-fried garlic. Red wine chorizo was somewhat anemic :(
Wines selection is average somewhat overpriced (x3)
Service was good intended but average, seemed to be understaffed and order handling got us two missed dished, one forgotten and arriving later at our request and one mixed up (we got a different dish of what we ordered). Service charge of 10% is automatically applied.
At this price level, we expect better food and better service
We give 4 stars acknowledging the staff's above average kindness.

Visited based on TA and OpenTable reviews and were not disappointed.
The restaurant was quiet during our mid-week evening visit but still managed to retain some ambiance. The service we received was exceptional - every member of the team was engaging.
On browsing the menu we were hesitant about some dishes, despite this we still opted for the "Trust the Chef" option - again based on TA reviews. We had a variety of dishes covering seafood, veggie options and meat. All were great but some notably better than others. I wouldn't say any seemed particularly Spanish and instead seemed like tapas twists on a mix of local/international dishes. We had a number of dishes we wouldn't have picked ourselves but were glad these were presented to us and changed our opinions! We both left thoroughly full and I feel the menu represented good value for money.

My lovely wife and I visited this restaurant for dinner one evening. It only opened in December but has already become something of a hot ticket - we arrived st 630pm on a Saturday and all but three of the tables were occupied or reserved. If you want to eat at peak times at the weekend it's probably best to book ahead.
The menu offers a range if Spanish, Italian and Hungarian dishes served tapas style. There's lots to choose from, including plenty of seafood and vegetarian options. There are also a few vegan dishes. We found that six plates were enough between two of us but you may want to order more if you have a big appetite.
We ordered baked gnochhi, mushroom ravioli, salt cod croquettes, patatas bravas, fried polenta and pan y tomate. There wasn't a bad dish among them - everything was really good! The service and ambiance were also very nice.
The total bill including a couple of draft beers came to less than 10,000 Ft. A little expensive by Budapest standards but great value compared to what you'd pay in the UK for similar quality food. Recommended.

The ambient was a mix betweent elegant, romantic and relaxed. The food was perfect: very tasty, good flavours and the idea of tasting different things was excellent. The service was impeccable. Today we went on the seafood line, so if you want to try good seafood at affordable price we totally recommend this place.

Me and my wife decided to dine in this tapas restaurant. The reviews are good,so we decided to give it a try.Besides we loved tapas cafes in Spain. The owner is spanish. It is located in the city center. The space is quite big, with high ceilings and many tables inside.Waiters wore masks and were quite friendly. There were not so many customers, mostly foreigners I would say as the prices are quite high for Budapest. Concerning the food: 1.as it is tapas restaurant the portion is very small.2. the taste is okeish, but 2 out of 3 seafood dishes were too salty.Nothing special in fact.3 Expensive -for 6 little tapas and 2 drinks we spent 18.000 Ft and stayed hungry.Followed by stomach discomfort. So we were quite upset.I wouldn't recommend that place. There are better "quality-price " places in Budapest.Tips are included in the bill.

Tapassio is a new restaurant that opened in December 2019, and they're definitely on their way to becoming a household name for Tapas in Budapest.
The selection of dishes is vast, varying with cold/hot starters, plenty of seafood dishes, meat dishes, Hungarian flavours and desserts. We had the muscles and the king prawns, which were supposedly delivered from Italy fresh, as well as the fruity duck - all of which were amazing, and had great flavours.
The wine list was extensive, lots of choices whether you want to go by glass or by bottle.
The service was fantastic throughout our lunch, our waiter was willing to chat with us and explain the different selections, as well as offer some suggestions for his personal favourites. We also received a complementary dip with some homemade crackers, as well as a spicy chilli/vodka shot at the end of the lunch.
The only thing I wish they didn't do is include the service fee/tip on the bill by default. I know that this is kind of the norm in Budapest, but I still appreciate the places that leave the discretion up to the customer.
We will most definitely be back to Tapassio in the near future - we just hope it will be still easy to reserve a table once the name gets out to the masses!

We decided to visit due to the amazing trip advisor reviews, and it was near to our hotel. We were not disappointed! The service, food, ambience and live Spanish guitar music were excellent. We shared a number of tapas dishes and every one was delicious and tasted so fresh. The waiter was by far the best service we have had anywhere for a very long time. He was genuinely friendly, passionate about the food and a brilliant host in general. The food was brought out in stages, allowing you plenty of time to finish your first few “lighter” dishes before eating the “heavier” dishes. We didn’t feel rushed, the waiter was happy to tell us about the ingredients, we were even treated to a delicious free dessert and a shot each. It reminded me of the excellent service you receive in a lot of Greek tavernas. I would recommend this place to anyone. My friend is vegetarian and didn’t have any issues finding plenty of good choices on the menu. We were told it had only been open since December, and if they continue like this, they will do very well.

Absolutely fantastic experience! Visited as a couple to celebrate my girlfriends birthday and the service and food definitely made me look good! Firstly the manager upon entry was very welcoming and friendly and assisted with choosing a bottle of champagne for the celebration. Our waiter Daniella was absolutely first class, no visit to our table went without some short conversation (but not too much), he was very attentive, had a good sense of humour and showed a huge amount of passion for his craft.
A young man with a big future ahead of him in hospitality. Quite possibly the best, most perfect service we've experienced on our travels over Europe. The food itself was also outstanding, our favourites being the codfish croquettes, mushroom ravioli and the chicken crepes. We also enjoyed the complimentary bread with garlic dip so much we had to have 3 servings! Overall an amazing experience, would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

The experience started when we arrived with a waiter that was friendly without being overbearing - he really seems happy to learn about new cultures.
Then we decided to go for the chefs suggestion and it was amazing. We were able to taste from spanish, to hungarian and italian type tapas, in small size and they are the perfection fusion.
The recommend wine (by the waiter) was very nice and paired the meal correctly.

Food is amazing, tapas are delicious, in two yoi can order 3-4 and it will be enough and spend less than 15 euros. Sauces are fantastic, everything fresh, service super good and careful. Location os perfect, next to the basilic. The environment is one od the best, new restaurant in town with beautiful decoration, super clean and confortable. I expect in a couple of months, after things are back to normal, to be one of the best restaurants in the touristic area of Budapest. Recommend the octopus, moules and gnocchi.

This was by far our favourite restaurant in Budapest. All the tapas we ate were excellent from the prawns through to the potato bravas.
Only criticism the bread was too hard for my liking. The free pistachio ice cream was one of nicest I’ve eaten.
A glass of sangria was large and very tasty, prices reasonable too making for a lovely evening.
