We were recommended this restaurant by our local walking tour guide. We hadn't booked but were lucky to get a table. I think we may have been the only tourists dining as it is very popular with locals who also arrived to receive their takeaway orders. Make sure that you are hungry as the portions are large-I was unable to... More

This is tradition at its best. Daily lunch specials, amazing assortments of food, all centered around traditional Hungarian cuisine. On weekends make a reservation a few days in advance, because it is always crowded. There is one dish that they say is for two but it can easily feed four. The staff is delightful and the place wonderfully kitsch. Make... More

We were looking for restaurants for dinner and phoned up to see if we could get a reservation. We were able to here and what a fabulous meal we had. I had Matzo Ball Soup for starters followed by the boiled beef with cherry sauce, washed down with a bottle of Hungarian dark beer. It was great value for three... More

Mostly visited by locals, this place is offers great food at a fairly low price. Nothing for the show off, but only focusing on good food and service. Most of the time you'd need reservation. For weekend lunch, you need to book a few days in advance. And dogs ae welcome which is a huge plus in Buadpest!

The Pozsonyi was recommend to us and didn't disappoint. Fine location on the Pest side with warm, bright accommodation. There's a wide ranging Hungarian food menu and when presented the food was excellent, wholesome and the portions were huge! AND - cheap as chips! Attentive service by the staff. A very busy restaurant, best to book ahead because it's so... More

I started with a traditional Hungarian fish soup and finished with a Gundel or chocolate pancake. The meal was accompanied with a Dreher beer. It is difficult to find something better. This place beats almost all competition in the vicinity.

We were recommended this place as it has typical Hungarian food. The welcome was great and we were seated in the heart of the restaurant. The food is very cheap and the portions are massive. The roast beef and onion rings was to die for! Quite a large menu too. We had a fantastic night. Definitely reserve a table.

This restaurant is almost always full, due to its informal atmosphere and competitive prices. On arrival you see only the "reserved" sign displayed on every table, I'm not quite sure whether this is a trick and they just select the guests they like as patrons. I ordered my favorite, the "calf leg". I have known this from my childhood, but... More

We ate here on the first night of our trip. The interior was typically Hungarian, and we were given a nice wooden booth to sit at. The starters were a bit bland, but the mains were tasty and filling. We ate a lot of food and had a bottle of good wine, and paid very little. Everything was well cooked... More

Local Hungarian restaurants are amazing but as strange as it sounds, Budapest does not have many good options. Most Hungarian restaurants in the capital are either high end, or cheap tourist fare. However.... this little diamond of a place tucked off the main streets is as good as any of the traditional restaurants you will find elsewhere around the country... More
