There were two of us. We had a plate of air-dried ham as a starter, very tasty. 1 portion for 2 was completely sufficient - we still had the main course waiting for us, around 1 kg dry-aged Tomahawk steak with various vegetables and potatoes, with an excellent, very rich sauce with a lot of depth. The steak was medium rare. Very good quality, very good taste and very tender. The vegetables were perfect, still firm. We also had a very tasty red wine, Marjan sicic Teodor Rosso Brda 2017. All in all, a very good meal. Pleasant atmosphere. The waiter was very friendly. He looked after the guests. Well-dosed, not at all pushy. Highly recommended - not cheap, but all in all it was worth the price. When choosing the dishes, we followed the waiter's recommendation. Of course, you can also eat à la carte. Elegant restaurant in the centre of Ljubljana

Elegant restaurant with quality food in the city center. We ordered a couple of starters to share and they plated them directly in two different dishes and with very good presentation. This way we didn't have to serve each other. Second we ordered duck and beef medallion and it was all delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Each dish is around 20-30€.

We had the "Meat Menu" which did not disappoint us in any way. Although the amuse bouche came along quite simple, the main courses were very appealing. Especially the lamb was very well prepared. In addition, there was the very friendly service with explanations of the respective courses; the recommended wine went very well. Clear recommendation!

Overated and overpriced

Had a pepper steak and a tagliatelle lobster. We also had scalops for appetisers. The food was not bad yet it did not meet it's expectations. We had asked for medium steak which was overcooked and very chewy. The lobster tagliatelle had pieces of the shell lcracking up while chewi. The desert was a creme brulee which was ae standard as possible. The waiters tried to serve but having their masks under their chin definitely didn't provide a sense of safety. I didn't regret I went to the place but would definitely not go again. So many more çreative and tasty restaurants in Ljubljana the çompetition is high!

We chose Valvas'or based on the degustation menus posted on their website. On arrival we were shown a different menu, which neither of us found appealing. The restaurant is beautifully appointed, the staff immaculate but the food was a little disappointing. Our choice of staters was unavailable and not finding 'Bean Soup' terribly appetising, I chose prosciutto with cheese and olives. On arrival, it was, indeed a plate of (spoiler alert) prosciutto with cheese and olives. My partner opted for scallops in a cream sauce which was...ok. Mains duly arrived: my choice beef medallions with the addition of an inexplicable poached egg in a fairly routine jus and traditional Slovenian cheese pastries. Mrs LS decided on sea bass with an accompaniment of potato and spinach. Not much finesse in that. Wines were excellent, the staff top notch, but for the money it just failed to hit the mark.

My wife and I had dinner at the beginning of this month in this great restaurant. The place is wonderful, the food is outstanding and the Staff (waiters) are excellent. Ivan was very professional, pleasant and helpful. We remember him a lot because we have stopped using our cell phone when we go to dinner after we learned the lesson from his advice. It is very true that when people go to a restaurant, mostly like this great one, they must enjoy their time there appreciating the nice atmosphere, food and service being offered at the place. We highly commend Valvasor Restaurant, but above all, its exceptional waiters and waitresses!

Few months ago, we went to Valvasor just because our (previously) favorite restaurant in Ljubljana was unable to take our reservation. We weren’t happy at first, but.. how we changed our mind😀 The service vas extraordinary. The waiter was probably the best we encountered. During one of the visits, he overheard us talking about going to Patisserie for another dessert and brought us additional dessert on the house. He never ever interrupts a conversatuon, you never run out of drink and he gives great advice on what to choose. For the last visit, we requested to sit on his part. I will not loose too many words on food, because everything is perfect. Men say this is the best stake and the prices are also a little lower compared to similar restaurants.

Really great experience. We were conducted by the host Miky. Miky was wonderful, really sympathy, funny and a true gentleman. We manage to present all the plates with knowledge and finesse. We requested the fish degustation menu. The menu started with a avocado panna cotta mise en bouche and a good sparkling rose wine. An Avocado and Octopus salad was the starter, we requested a white wine well recommend by Miky. After a black tagliatelle with a sauce, good flavor but for me just a little bit overcooked. The main course was absolutely amazing, the flavor explode in our mouths, sea bass, with a delicious mashed potatoes and really crispy and well cooked vegetables. But the sauce, the sauce was divine and connected everything, simple plate but wonderful... The dessert was an ice cream, with cookies was not bad but didn't surprised was a minus in the menu. Generally a really great experience, well conducted by Miki.

Luxe Venue with Excellent Food

Valvasor is an upscale, white tablecloth venue in the central pedestrian area. It was a step up from anything we have experienced after a month of travel in the Balkans. Service was prompt and professional. We chose the fish tasting menu and were very pleased with the variety, presentations and flavors. Prices were above average for the area. This is a very good restaurant and worth it.

The service was great and the wine was delicious ! But the food was just okay. We did the chefs menu because it was a Michelin star restaurant and it was 100% not worth it. Everything was just okay, nothing special and the portions were extremely large. My recommendation is to just order an entree or check out another restaurants tasting menu.

Man o' man, was this place one heck of a restaurant. It was probably one of the best restaurants we had been to in 9 countries in 31 days when in Europe in March 2023. We had asked for a recommendation for dinner at the tourist information place and they gave us the place next door who also own this place. The place they told us about was full but they said to go next door as it was owned by the same owners and served much the same food. So glad we did. The restaurant is a Michelin rated restaurant (which we found out after we went). The service when you walk in was impeccable. We were slightly underdressed (as we were backpacking) in jeans and a buttoned shirt but we were still treated well. The menu was very well put together with a good selection. We choose an entre, main and dessert and also had drinks as well. The food was amazing, one of the two best meals I've had (both were in Europe on this trip). The taste of all meals and dessert was just phenomenal. The care it was prepared with translated through to the plate and the meal was just excellent. The waiter was attentive throughout and made our time their enjoyable and memorable. The pricing for this was also excellent. For what we got and what we actually paid for it made it even better. Such a good meal in a beautiful restaurant, amazing service and at an excellent price. This is a must visit restaurant when in Ljubljana.

Delicious, tasteful and beautiful plates were served by our very friendly and attentive waiter, who made us feel instantly 'at home' in a very friendly and humorous way. Thank you for a beautiful culinary experience! A must go when you're in Ljubljana!

After 12 months we were back at Valvasor and were once again impressed. This time we had the meat menu, which was impressive in all courses. We also had a very nice sparkling rosé. The price-performance ratio and the service are still impressive. However, there is one point of criticism: we would have liked to have had a fish menu like last year - BUT who wants to eat the same menu twice? The menu has not changed in 12 months. I would have to deduct half a point for this, but unfortunately that is not possible
