This small restaurant provides excellent traditional Czech food. We found it by accident a few years ago and now make a point of visiting it every year. The waitress 'Marika' is excellent, speaks fluent English and is happy to talk you through the menu. We can thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

The location for this restaurant is excellent if you're staying 'castle side' of the river. It's set in a wonderful old building and so comes with a good deal of charm. The food was OK, I had the duck and bread dumplings and my companion the beef goulash with a salad to start. They were good, generously portioned and well... More

Stopped here after a long walk from the castle to old town. It's a really cool spot. Great to warm up. The 1/2 duck with the dumplings was great. Too much food for one person really.

An absolute tourist trap! Lured in by the genuinely unique venue. Stunningly bold in presenting everyday supermarket food as restaurant cuisine (and charging for it!). Starter of "Prague Ham" was a few slices of ham from a packet with wedges of what initially looked like goats cheese but turned out to be margarine! Main was an admittedly risky choice, called... If you're visiting the nearby and impressive St. Nicholas Cathedral, and are ready for some lunch try U Tri Zlatych Hvezd (By three golden stars) before going back into McDonald land. We went in and had the set menu, Onion soup, Roast duck, potato dumplings, red cabbage. Cake and cream. Two of us with a beer each and a coffee,... More

Good food in an old and historic restaurant. There has been a building on this site since 1400. It was destroyed by fire during the Hussite Wars but was restored in 1813 and it is now a lovely restaurant with friendly and well mannered staff. The menu is good with many Czech specialities, we had roast duck with red cabbage... More

Great building and authentic old style look, but it stops there. Everything is old, the waitress, the food, except the bill. They try and rip you off with extras, add a tip before you can even see it on the credit card machine. Disgraceful. And the food is frankly awful! Just go somewhere else, so that they may finally realise... More

We had a nice table inside near a window. The service was quick and friendly. My husband ordered Pstruh na grilu (grilled trout) 289.00 and I had the Tri zlate hvezdy 337.00 (stuffed pork with red wine, blue cheese, pear and cranberry sauce). The food was outstanding and we ate every bite even though the portions were more than we... More

Nice meal - good value. The waiter - Jaroslava? - was working alone but did a fantastic job of keeping things going. We both ordered the goulash but there was only 1 portion left as they were preparing more for the evening. No worries - we shared it as we were not overly hungry anyway. Nice setting - would go... Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
