I went with a college party one evening during our trip to Prague a number of years ago, (second time the college has been) amongst a group of 20 teenagers and we were well catered for. There was opportunity for us to eat meals we were familiar with as well as traditional Czech cuisine. I had goulash and it was... More

Visited on a Wednesday evening. It wasn't very busy. The people working there were very friendly and helpful. There was live music. The whole restaurant is very on point with the Švejk book, the atmosphere, decor, service and music takes you to the time where the book is set. Would definitely visit again and recommend it to anyone who doesn't... More

We made a dinner reservation for Hostinec U Kalicha expecting great things based on the restaurant's hype and fame. When we got there, the restaurant was empty, so the reservation was completely unnecessary and deceiving. The decor and ambiance were unappealing and in need of a serious update and cleaning - it looked as if it had been neglected for... More

As a Svejk philosophy lover I had to visit this place. We had a very late lunch around 3 pm and the premise was sparely crowded. The beer house is very large and roomy and well lit. Beer is inexpensive and very good. You can even have a photo with Svejk himself. I highly recommend this place to all visitors... More

First of all, the food is exellent. The guys in the kitchen definitely know their stuff. I can hardly imagine more typical czech food. This food is then smashed on your table with a kinetics of landing of a second world war aircraft that was shot and is landing on sharp rocks. If you want to feel, like you are... More

If U are really into getiing know how czech's do drink and have fun, this place is one to visit. Decoration just from another century....as well as stuff. Thats why this place is so GREAT! Stuff knows the game and reads your mind...in the other words: why U are there! Place for all of the fans of Jaroslav Hašek literature!

We went here recently as a party of 4 OAPs on a Christmas Market trip due to it being close to our hotel (Green Garden Hotel). Having read so many bad reviews I wondered if we had visited the same place. Yes it is a bit rough and ready but we were made very welcome on a reasonably busy evening.... More

Yesterday we was 8 people at this place and I am visiting his place on regular bases for more than 25 years. True is that menu and prices change during this time, but some facts to consider. It is local typical restaurant in old style as it was last 40 years. Atmosphere and style is very local and based on... More

Went here on the recommendation of our hotel concierge. Very good food and quite cheap. I had pork knee and my companion had the quarter goose. Highly recommended.
