We were actually looking for a different wine bar when we (literally) stumbled down the stairs to Vinny sklep. This is a tiny wine bar in an old arched basement the bartender was very friendly and we enjoyed the local Czech wines. This is very much a local hang out and there is another dance bar next door so it... More

A wonderful place. From the outside it appears like just a doorway leading to nothing much, but persevere and it rewards. A number of different rooms, all very atmospheric, with excellent wines, all at very reasonable prices. Our wonderful waitress talked us out of our first choice with her recommendation that was actually cheaper. She was quite right, it was... More

Very atmospheric wine bar in a beautiful acient cellar. Excelent vines, acompanied with selected cheeses, chorizos and other rather spanish style tapas. Very extensive wine list is focused on german rieslings, mainly from Rheingau and spanish tempranios from Rioja. Wine from other regions like France, Italy or Austalia can be found as well. Local wines from Moravia and even from Prague a part of the offer. Prices are very reasonable starting with about 1€ per glas. Educated and attentive service helps with wine selection. Vinny sklep Ujezd 19 was listed among top 5 Prague winebars.

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
