Novoměstský pivovar is in the heart of the city and may be too touristic. But it is not as bad. Beer is very good, food is fait, too. And you may enjoy seeing how beer is being done!

Apart from its architecture, beautiful countryside, and cultural scene, Czech Republic is recognized worldwide for its great beer, so a stop at a Czech brewery is a must while visiting Prague. During our tour, we had the chance to see how beer is brewed, and went through the whole process, from steeping the grains, boiling, fermenting, filtering, and tanking, to... More

Visited this pub/restaurant on a recent trip to Prague as it featured in a guide book. Not disappointed. Good selection of drinks and food at very reasonable prices, best meal I'd had during our stay. Service prompt and efficient, but did lack a smile. Highly recommended.

Really nice and stylish restaurant right in the small brewery. You can sit just beside the tanks of beers, you can see production of beer whily you enjoy beer and meals. Beer is good, dark and light. Meals are also delicious.

The Novomestsky Pivovar was one of the first brewpubs to open in the Czech Republic since the fall of communism and as such it is one of the oldest 'new' breweries in the country! The beers are well crafted with rich full flavour, although I would prefer if they would serve them a little colder. Food is good solid Czech... More

We chose to eat here following a recommendation from a travel guide. It's about 10 minutes walk from Wenceslas Square, so much better value than those right on the Square catering primarily for tourists. We booked for 4 people, and from the moment we arrived to when we left, the staff were friendly and attentive. Their English was much better... More

Had visited this establishment on my last visit to Prague to view the brewery and sample the beer. This time around they clearly did not want my custom. Sat down was ignored time and time again by waiters walking past ...eventually one deigned to come over. I ordered the 4 taster beers whereupon he went back to cleaning the tables.... More

We were wary of the place - a huge group of Americans came in before us so we figured it was was a tourist trap but we were hungry and the place looked cool so we went for it. We shared a huge leg of ham which was the house special with bread, horseradish and mustard and two big beers.... More

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
