I have been eating here since 2001, when Govinda was one of few vegetarian places in Prague. The place is still the same, nice, quiet, warm. Delicious veg. dishes spiced in a way you sometimes have no clue what it is, I love it. When you get the big menu, you can get more for free. I tend to overeat... More

Good veg food, run by Hare Krishnas, who are very friendly and speak semi decent english so you can ask what the food consists of. It's a choice of about one curry "subzi", one soup/daal, and rice/grain to eat it with. Usually one or two side orders like kebabs, or papadam and you get it in a platter. The desserts... More

We are vegetarians and the food couldn't have been better. The place has a nice Indian Ambiance and helpful staff. Lots of seating was also available. Would definitely recommend it to all.

A typical Hare Krishna food - a big plate of vegetarian treats, some sweet, some sour, some spicy, enough to fill you full, yet not making you sleepy and for price 2-3 times less than in vegan/vegetarian restaurants. A bargain you couldn't neglect. However, it closes early, so mind the schedule.

They offer a lunch menu every day - cafeteria style. Big portions, tastes good, good price, nice people. It is quite dark there though.. like a bit sad without windows (I don't actually remember if there are any windows but it made me feel there aren't any)

Good food but to much oily... The guy who served me food, did just after receiving the money (without washing his hands). :/ The people working there were not very friendly as well, maybe because they did not knew how to communicate in English...

I was quite disappointed by the choices on offer, as well as the quality. There was nothing wrong with the food - except that it was just bland. It's like something you would eat because you were hungry, or because you wanted a plate full of food for a cheap price (it is good value if you are on a... More

I have eaten in a number of govindas restaurants from Sydney to New York and everything in between. There are some truly outstanding ones but the one in Prague would be bottom of the list. We had lunch on 24 June and it became apparent that the food was cooked by someone who had not tasted authentic Indian cuisine before.... More

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred metres long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theatres. National Theatre near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
