The food is a lot better than whqat you may get in some more touristic places in the old town, the waiter was very efficient and friendly, lot of locals for a drink or dinner, the only intolerable thing was a group of three foreign middle aged couples getting drunk and screaming to hell... can't choose clients :( It remains... My teenage daughter had noticed this restaurant when we were walking around and suggested it for dinner. We were greeted by an extremely friendly staff member who quickly showed us to our table. I ordered the lime risotto and it was delicious. My daughter had the mushroom risotto and it too was tasty. My husband had the shaved beef and... More

We used to go to this restaurant frequently,as they had great food and perfect service including a friendly owner. However something has changed, it seems there is a new owner and it went completely dowhill. The sraff was do rude , that we left without ordering. It was quite a shock! Sending a warning!

The tiny black door at the entrance is a bit misleading because in the inside is a really beautifully designed place. The food was great and the service was excellent.

We were lucky in Prague - or maybe everywhere provides good food! Our two dinners out were excellent (leaving out the Subway sandwich on arrival!). The food at BarBar was excellent (a goulash, a beautiful piece of fish) and the wine selection excellent. The waiter (interestingly vegetarian) was exceptionally knowledgeable about wine and took us through not just the choices,... More

A stylish subterranean retreat. Good menu, small but enough choice. Good food, nice people, really enjoyable and relaxing.

Visited BarBar early on a quiet Monday night after the long trip to get to the city. It is situated off the beaten track but not too far away. At first we were not sure it was open as the door was shut but we were very glad we walked in. We were treated to a great 3 course meal,... More

We had an exceptional meal at Barbar Restaurant on our recent trip to Prague. Lukas, our waiter was warm and welcoming and extremely helpful in providing his entre choices for an authentic Czeck meal experience. The atmosphere was wonderful and my entire family loved our food and the experience we had. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who... More

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
