This is a pub crying out for some tlc. It could be stripped back to a proper old English country pub or could be taken to a contemporary eatery. As it is it is neither, it is stuck in a time warp. The beer is ok but the range could be expanded. The food is traditional pub fare but nicely... More

What a delightful country pub with a lovely landlord and landlady. Called for Saturday lunch whilst staying in the area and was made to feel welcome on stepping through the door. We had our dog with us which was no problem at all, he even got offered a dog treat off the landlord. Food was delicious and can also vouch... More

Lovely Friday evening meal with friends. Good quality home cooked food and friendly staff. Lots of freshly caught fish on the menu plus a delicious steak pie.

We went for the first time last night after a long time living in the area, kept meaning to go but for some reason or another got round to it. Brilliant! Lovely local food and piping hot. Loved it! Nice people and nice surroundings. It's bloomin good Pub Grub but goes a bit further than that. Don't expect 5 star... More

We went in for an evening meal . The barman offered small mini size samplers of the beers on offer which was great .The menu was brought to the table but the specials blackboard won the day and the friendly waitress confirmed our choices as good ones as the fish was fresh and from Whitby .It was good and fresh... My partner and I first came here about 6 years ago now and love it. The Sunday lunch is the best around for miles. The evening menu is basic but the food is excellent. The steak and ale pie is the best around. It has always been consistently good. It's definitely one of our favourites places to eat.

My partner and I (our spaniel too) visit the Dales three or more times a year. In that time,we have been regular visitors to this lovely pub, for about 7 years, where we have our lunch and liquid refreshment! It has a great, relaxed atmosphere, far from the "madding crowd and hassle of work." We, including our dog, are always... More
