Wow! Hasn't this place changed again. Had some friends over and decided to try here again. We found new management have taken over with friendly service and a new menu and chef. Well we were quite surprised at the quality and quantity of our meals,...very tasty. We had the Squid salad which was very filling and the Thai beef salad also bloody filling and the fisherman's Basket. They have a specials board back up and the cafe is also running, also the dessert fridge is back ya!! Will definitely be back. Thanks guy's 😀More

I used to tell anyone that would listen that the Hay Pt Bistro was the best I'd eve eaten in but things have changed considerably since the Pub changed hands. We decided to go for dinner on Fathers Day and as we had in the...past booked a table to ensure we could get a seat. That proved to be a waste of time because when we got there there was no record of a booking and we could pick whatever table we desired. In the past the Bistro menu was a challenge to choose a meal from all the fine options available. The menu now is just a few items from either the grill or deep fryer and totally bland. Previously you could choose a wine from a small wine list. This visit when I asked to see it you would think I was talking in tongues. It was but one example of a staff member having little idea of what her role encompassed. We ordered two steaks, one Rump and one Rib Fillet both to be medium rare. We got two rib fillets both medium well. The perfect way to ruin a good steak, overcook it. There were no options for a desert. In the past there was a refrigerated cabinet with a nice array of desert ideas. It's still there but it was empty and the specials board was wiped clean. In the past we would sit around drinking our wine watching the locals have a good night out. Not this time. We could not wait to get away from this morbid atmosphere and to be brutally honest even though we live just around the corner we will not be coming back any time soon.More

Came here for dinner with family. It happened to be Valentines Night. The hotel was so busy. There was a Valentines Day Menu to order off, or the regular menu. We ordered off both menus. The entree’s and meals came out super quick, considering how...busy it was. The quality of food was beautiful. The presentation was gorgeous. The service was 100%. Would definatly eat here again.More

Grest views from our table. Quick friendly service. Everyone loved their meal. Same when we came for lunch a few weeks ago. Will be happy to return.

Came here a lot during a recent work trip. Menu is way more extensive then you would expect from a country pub. The burgers a great quality and really tasty. The staff are really friendly.

First time visit with friends, the wait times were very long. If it was busy we could understand. When we arrived, there weren't many people although it still took over 30 minutes to get our coffee, when it finally got to the table it was...cold. Ordering entrees before the main meal was pointless. After another long wait one of the two entrees were bought out. The second entree arrived with the rest of the ordered meal, which was cold. It seemed like no one knew what was going on. No explanation given as to why anything took so long. Prices for the same drink vary depending on who serves you. Now that we know what the service is like, we won't be going back.More

Hi Pamela 48. I appreciate constructive criticism but I know that all these points are far from the truth. We hope you fell better venting and exaggerating but from cold coffee to cold food. From incorrect charging to waiting too long. Maybe try to get...More

I've eaten here twice now and both times the meals and service was great. Great menu selection, big serving sizes, reasonably priced, beautiful view out the back, plenty of grass for kids to run around on and the desserts are delicious!

Our family had a recent catch up lunch on Anzac Day at the Blue Roof Bistro at the Hay Point Hotel. Upon arrival the manager told us as an Anzac Day requirement he could only serve us drinks if we also bought a meal until...1pm which was fine with us as we intended to eat there anyway. We sat outside to enjoy the view of beach, water and Hay Point Jetty in the distance watching the coal boats coming and going. The staff were all very friendly and our meals came promptly after ordering although the restaurant was reasonably busy. I had a grilled barramundi burger and my husband had a fillet steak burger. Both were served with a salad on the burger and twice cooked chips and a very nice dipping sauce on the side. Very large serving and filling. The other members of our party had a cooked seafood platter and were very happy with their choice. There is also a coffee shop that has delicious looking cakes and slices on offer but after our big lunch we didn’t get to sample as we were full. Maybe next time. The prices for meals were reasonable and the servings generous. The facilities were very clean and tidy and there is a large lawn out the front of the pub that families were taking advantage of playing ball games with their children. There is also accommodation on site in the form of small villas that we were told are perfect for an overnight stopover for the many miners in the area to use between shifts but are also available for the general public to use.More

Having never been here we stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. Signage was lacking for the bistro so we all traipsed through the public bar to get to the bistro. Although the inside dining area is quite small there are plenty of tables outside...to sit and enjoy the view. Friendly and welcoming staff are always a bonus and they certainly were here. Meals were quick to arrive and we thoroughly enjoyed the chicken Caesar burger and fish and chips. There’s a specials menu along with the regular menu so heaps of choices. Prices were reasonable for the meals. Would go backMore
