Dined here on a Sunday evening. Extensive menu with all of the usual dishes you would expect from a pub including a range of starters and pizzas, chicken breast, schnitzels, fish and chips, chops, mixed grill etc.
We both had the King Island scotch fillet with chips and the house salad ($42) together with a bowl of seasonal vegetables.
Fillet was cooked as requested and was very tasty and filling.
Ordered at the counter and meals were delivered at the table by some friendly staff. Drinks available from the bar.

The positives. The pub restaurant has a good country pub feel and the staff were friendly and helpful. Some of the best I’ve dealt with in a pub for a while.
The negatives. It may have just been what we ordered but the meal was poor. The highlight were the chips and roast pumpkin. But we both ordered a mixed grill. The sausage was bland, the lamb chop ok, the egg ok but the steak was worse than average. We were asked how we wanted it cooked and they were both the same, tough and over cooked. Maybe we were there on a bad night in the kitchen but given the reputation of King Island beef, we weee very disappointed. Especially at $50/ meal.
BUT the front of house and bar staff were excellent.

We stayed in the hotel for three nights during a golfing trip the rooms were very clean though a little bit dated. The restaurant was great good choice of meals a little expensive for what was on offer but very good quality. The staff at the hotel we're really friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them great service.

Great hospitality and if you are travelling during the crayfish season then order in advance to enjoy the freshest crayfish ever. The setting is a great country based local hotel. They have a Parmi night on Thursday night and a few other options for the non seafood eater.

Many dinner venues on the Island were closed when we visited in January as there was a shortage of chefs so we had no choice but to dine at the hotel.
I had read about how great King Is dairy and beef was but couldn’t believe the rubbish steaks they served.
Overpriced very basic pub food with seriously inedible steaks with fat and gristle.
Very disappointed, in my experience, I wouldn’t recommend. We won’t be going back.

We ordered 2 Lemon, Lime and Bitters, response from staff - "Would you like vodka in it?" No ambience, loud music, staff swearing and very rough. Not inviting, no chatter. We were holiday makers. Not a nice experience.

We had our hearts set on a lobster meal during our short stay on KI but those critters can be elusive depending on weather and fishing. Having told our story at the hotel, we returned the next day to find we had our choice of live lobsters from the tank. Thanks to staff who went the extra mile

Pub grub, steak, lamb etc. are on offer. Tried the cheese burger, would not recommend it, ok but rather bland. Fush&chips were fine, really fresh. Next day tried the lamb cutlets and a steak, was good but also expensive. Atmosphere was nice, much better than in the club.

The friendliest pub EVER. The publican John is like an old friend. He didn’t know us, but kindly dropped off our bags that were delayed being delivered by the plane. The locals are all very chatty and very thankful for tourists. Stay here if possible

Stayed at the hotel on a recent golf trip, rooms were more than adequate. The bar was a lot of fun, my group really enjoyed engaging with the locals while we had a few beers. John behind the bar is an absolute cracker.

Overpriced drinks and meals so we walked out. Pretty ordinary!! They also charge a surcharge for using a credit card! I would have thought that was part of the cost of doing business.
