First time visiting here and just getting take away dinner. Great menu with lots to choose from. Very easy to order over the phone and quick to pick up. Looks like a nice set up inside and will try dining in in the future. Great...food!More

Stopped on the way home for some Thai takeaway. We have been to this restaurant before and it was good. But don't do the takeaway. The lamb curry was absolutely terrible. Three chunks of lamb thrown on some nearly dry rice. Won't be back soon.

I have always enjoyed the wonderful Thai food when I have eaten here and the welcoming and professional staff, but last night they went above and beyond to help my friend in need - the kitchen was closed but they prepared a fresh meal for...her. That was such a reflection of their attitude and kindness, we were very grateful.More

Just arrived home after a very authentic Thai night at Kwanjai Thai with my father and four of his friends (70 plus to 95 - that's them not me). All had a lovey time, the food was very tasty and the team have managed to...bring the authentic flavours of Bangkok and the rest of Thailand to Tassie. Very friendly owner and staff who display the epitome of hospitality. The second time I have been there, the fourth or fifth or more for everyone else and we will all be back. Highly recommended! Well done.More

While doing the non exciting grocery shop in Kingston this week we stumbled upon this lovely bright spot. Feeling a little peckish we decided to give it a try. We were welcomed warmly into a bright airy restaurant which was buzzing with lunchtime customers. The...menu has all the usual Thai suspects with a few nice surprises. We both ordered and sat to observe the customer traffic and the take away customers. Within minutes we were tucking into some of the most delicious Thai food we have found in Tasmania. Fragrant and as hot as we love it.. Veggies stir fried but still crispy and crispy pork which maintained a juicy interior.. (however they managed this .. I was impressed) My partner who is particularily fussy when it comes to Thai food (because he can cook a mean green curry himself) is already planning our return visit. Do yourself a favour try this place yourself.More

Kwanjai Thai from the outside looks like any other suburban restaurant, located adjacent to the Coles supermarket complex in the seaside suburb of Kingston south of Hobart. The restaurant sits alongside various fast food joints and the main car park however once inside the food...sets it apart from most other suburban eateries. The interior is clean and modern and a little non-descript. The Thai staff are welcoming, very attentive and polite. The menu is extensive featuring almost exclusively Thai dishes. There are Banquet menus, a kids menu and a special desert menu. The main menu includes the usual curry offerings, noodle dishes, stir fried items, BBQ, Duck and seafood. Our table of six chose the sizzling seafood, Lamb Shanks, Chilli Jam Chicken, Beef Curry, Red Duck Curry and a kids meal. We added Roti and Jasmine rice. The service was timely. The meal presentation was excellent, very colourful and authentic Thai. Being a BYO we bought along our own wine and were happy to pay a small corkage fee. It was Ginger Beer, Thai pink milk and Apple juice for the non drinkers/children. Main course meal prices ranged from around $20.00 to the low $30’s, very reasonable and definitely good value. We booked several days ahead, which is always recommended. Would I recommend Kwanjai Thai, very definitely. The venue is open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner. Home deliver and take away is available. It is a BYO restaurant.More

Food is so good & staff very friendly & polite. The ambiance is very comfortable within a spotlessly clean restaurant. We love Thai food & have eaten it in many countries, Kwanjai is one of the best & consistently produces mouth wateringly great dishes. I...love the Crispy Pork Belly with Chilli & Basil, Pad See-Ew, Galangal Curry, Red Duck Curry, Galangal Curry. Can't wait try many of the other dishes on the menuMore

This restaurant is located in a strip mall in the shopping area of Kingston. Don’t let the location fool you, the food is very good and the service outstanding. Since they don’t have a liquor license, it is BYOB. A liquor retailer is conveniently located...next-door. The restaurant will even provide you with wine glasses. Full marks!More
