Cucina 837 at Salena is a cellar door and restaurant brought to you from Salena Estate Wines. Serving up freshly made in-house pasta and pizza's alongside traditional antipasto platters, to bring you the best Italian food in the Riverland. As for wines, Salena Estate are known for the large selection of wine in their repertoire; from crisp whites, rose's and sparkling's to keep you cool in summer, through to rich and Moorish reds and tawny's to warm your soul in winter, the hardest thing will be trying to decide what to have.

January a year ago but I still cannot get over how terrible it was

Food took one and a half hours plus to be served, no consistency is serving size or quality. I felt sorry for the wait staff who had to keep apologizing to us and another table next to us . I even spoke to the Owner...on the night and I felt as if I was wasting his time. Between my table of 20 and the other table of 10 all locals we swore never to return. My Visit was Feb 2020 but I still cannot forget about itMore

Great new addition to the Riverland

The new restaurant and tasting complex at Salena Estate is certainly remarkable. The state of the art complex really states the direction Riverland wine is heading as they raise their worthy profile and people realise that the Riverland puts out more wine that all of...the other areas of SA combined! Cucina 837 is a contemporary Italian style restaurant offering a range of mainly pizza and pasta dishes. We attended on a very hot afternoon, but the place was comfortable and the food was delicious. Staff were perhaps a little too attentive, but that is a small issue that will improve given time. Maybe a little expensive for the type of food, but the quality was excellent as was the atmosphere.More

Great wine, Great time!

Great wine, Great time! We went to Cucina 837 in early August and I cannot fault the place! Starting with the selection of wine and cocktails. We lucked into chocolate month where all the cocktails were also inspired by my all time favourite flavour. There...is also nothing quite like a hearty pasta dish after a few reds and their selection of dishes on the night did not disappoint! I had the fettuccine puttanesca which was delicious and my partner had the famous Bob’s Ragu which lived up to its reputation!! I’m looking forward to going back again the next time I am in the Riverland!More

Dined recently & was very disappointed

Dined recently & was very disappointed with the salmon, almost raw with shrivelled zucchini! My husband’s pasta was also very undercooked. Red wine chosen was close to being corked, causing indigestion. We were so looking forward to the night as we had heard so many...great reports. Maybe they were having an off night or we chose the wrong dishes & wine!More

Disappointed

Visited with some friends for lunch on a Saturday. Ordered a Margarita pizza which had so much sloppy sauce on it the base was soggy and I couldn’t even pick it up. The sauce lacked flavour and was so plain. The mozzarella was just a...few blobs on the base and tasteless. Very disappointing. My friend ordered Carbonara , the waitress misheard her and bought out calamari, but instead of saying I’m so sorry I’ll bring you what you wanted she said I can’t take it back because “ the chef will be angry” Such poor customer service!! I couldn’t quite believe she actually said that. She did give her a discount but that’s not the point. Staff need to pay more attention. After that experience and bad food I really don’t want to go back. I can’t believe the other reviews saying how “authentic” the food is as it’s not at all!More

Great Wines, Great Food Great Service

The day we visited we were lucky to meet the Director Bob. He made us feel so welcome. The young lady handling our wine tasting and meals was fantastic. I do apologise for not remembering her name but her service and knowledge of the wines...was excellent. As I have mentioned in previous reviews, the wine is up to the drinker and what I may say may not agree with all. But I will say the wine we tasted this day we visited was magic. So much so we took a number of bottles with us and am still enjoying the taste. Keep up the great work guys and look forward in catching up again soon.More

Visited with sister and bro-in-law on visit from Northern Ireland

Called at Salena winery when touring riverland area with sister on a trip from Ireland - I lived in Oz for several years and have visited many wineries in SA, WA especially. Can't faault Salena - great wine, freash pizzas and excellent staff.

City dining in the Riverland

Totally enjoyable , we had a great meal

Totally enjoyable , we had a great meal , I wrote a review late 2019 which wasn’t so good and on this visit the food & service was excellent, fully recommended , I had the steak special , the meat was tender and cooked to...perfection, my wife had the salmon and totally enjoyed it , my friend had the pasta ragu and commented on how good it is , All in all will definitely return on a more regular basisMore
