Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went to the Mazi in Lantern club 2 weeks ago on Sunday. It was 5:30pm and we could not order the burgers they say non left. I normally eat Vegetarian burger because I am vegetarian. But no burgers so I asked the staff at...casher ' What do you recommend for the vegetarian ? ' He said ' Don't com to the club'. I never experienced such a rude comment at restaurant in Australia before. I was very disappointed as a member there.More

Hi tamago154, we are so sorry for the experience you had at MaZi. We have dealt with the situation and can assure you that this kind of behaviour is not us by any means. Again, we sincerely apologise.

Even with the furniture spaced out, mazi is still great especially near the fireplace. Both spaghetti an pizza was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.

Our first outing after COVID-19 restrictions have eased have left me disappointed, so say the least. I ordered a $20 chicken breast schnitzel which was reconstituted chicken. I work in the chicken industry, in the research and development lab so I’m very well educated in...chickens and all the soy proteins they put in to make like it look (but never taste) real - I’m outraged by paying $20 for something worth less than $1 to make. I got my money back, so at least they were respectful towards my complaints.More

So disappointed last night. Can’t believe the difference in food quality & menu choices since our last visit. We used to love the beautiful Mediterranean food here but hadn’t been for about a year. Finally went last night with friends, and I was actually embarrassed...that I’d recommended the place because our meals were so unappetizing. There was hardly any nice choices left on the menu & the standard of the meals was very poor. I’ve enjoyed better meals at a pub. Even the meals & desserts that looked nice were tasteless. As it’s the only restaurant in The Lantern Club, I think a lot of members like myself will not be renewing their membership unless the restaurant goes back to the standard it was when they joined. For the sake of the club, which is beautiful, the management really needs to get better chefs & go back to a decent menu.More

I have been going to the lantern club dining room restaurant since it first opened years ago and sadly after again another very poor experience last night I was motivated to write this review. Our decision to frequent the restaurant over the recent 12 months...was only influenced by the comfortable environment that the club has when you like to catch up with friends and have conversations without the interruption of a club crowd packed closely to your dinner table. Since the departure of the original Italian chef three years ago who started the dining room the restaurant has now qualified to the very low degree of food preparation and tasteless servings that leaves you wondering how much further the restaurant can descend into the realm of offering plated garbage. Last night the scotch steak was miserably prepared and not any better than a chuck steak full of cartilage and grizzle. The crab and prawn pasta, bulky with broken half prawns and no recognisable crab, the beef ribs obviously reheated multiple times and causing my very polite friend to express disgust. I can only hope that the club graduates to a realisation that their restaurant does not deserve the wonderful architecture of the dining room for its balance of space, lounge and bar. I can only hope that with a tirade of poor reviews like this one the management will review their failure and immediately take action to resurrect the quality of their once fabulous restaurant.More

MaZi is located in Lantern Club Roselands, (just of King George’s Road, Canterbury). It takes the level of club to q whole new standard. Beautifully decorated, relaxing atmosphere. Coffee is good and a good selection on the menu. Meal sizes are generous and everything fresh...and well presented. The staff are most helpful and friendly. We have a group of eleven friends that drive from all areas of outer Sydney each couple of months to meet up and spend time together. We start with coffee in the lounge area then move into the dining area for lunch. Most days we are there for up to 4 hours and never feel that we are being rushed to move on. Also, being able to reserve a table is helpful. Can recommend the Salt and Pepper Squid, Lamb Shanks, Halloumi with roast tomato and walnut salad and the Chicken Schnitzel. I do believe the Pizza, is also a good meal. The decor in the Ladies Restroom is beautifully presented, with fresh rolled cotton hand towels. It is all these little touches that set it apart from local clubs.More

Visited previously for special occasion where canape style food was served. Tasteful and elegant decor of whole facility including other venues and amenities. stopped for dinner on the way home and ordered roast of the day and battered barramundi which are part of the "Mazi...Favourites" on the menu (cheaper, Lava cake for desert and coffee. The mains were quite average, desert was nice. We ordered also "wine by glass" which comes in 150ml or 250ml for $8.00 which is very good value.More
