Oh dear, what a disappointment. After reading positive reviews here we visited one Saturday lunchtime. It’s really just a hotel/pub with a cafeteria style dining area, pretty much devoid of any ambience. Well ok, maybe the food is the star? We never got to find...out, as we were ignored for a good ten minutes by the two or three teenage girls wandering around. Gig up and left, nobody seemed to care.More

Welcoming Staff and plenty of space to socially distance. Both meals were excellent! (just like the reviews said they'd be) We enjoyed them both (Only drawback were a few flys inside who thought the same about the meals) Just across the road you can stroll...along the river path with lots of shade or check out the ducks from the a park bench.More

Ate here on a friends recommendation and it didn’t disappoint. Fantastic selection of local produce that was outstanding. Great, friendly service that you would expect. Made a very nice evening.

I’m local to Mudgee & this is always one of the first choices to bring family & friends that come into town. The food is delicious! The atmosphere is good & the staff are all friendly and helpful.

My family and I arrived in Mudgee looking for some local tucker for dinner and were drawn to the Red Heifer at the historic Lawson Park Hotel! We had an excellent experience from the moment we were greeted, feasting on traditional Italian food that could...have summoned Pavarotti back from the grave! A big thank you to the warm and friendly manager Mikayla who assisted us in every way and also offered to push our 4 month old daughter around in her pram while we ate…of course we accepted! For a drinking and dining experience that epitomised country values, was family friendly and culinary excellence, we recommend the Lawson Park to all comers!More

In a world of soulless boring city pubs, this is very welcome. Great ambience. Nice character. Extensive beer and wine list. Excellent menu. Steaks were very well cooked, good quality meat, multiple choice of cuts. Accompaniments were tasty. Kids didn’t like schnitzel crumb as it...was a bit fancy (Parmesan and Rosemary?) but would be fine for adults. Great staff.More

Wife ordered grilled salmon and enjoyed it I ordered scotch fillet steak medium rare based on their advertising with Brussels and roast potatoes Steak @$35 for 300g seemed reasonable, came out looking good, but was rare and chewy and obviously budget , brussells were cold...on arrival, was hungry and ate about a third before giving up, even the security guy agreed was cooked rare said he would advise chef of my complaint, no response Had heaps better at similar pubs, we will return to Mudgee as we loved it, but never to the Lawson Red Heifer BistroMore

Within the Lawson Hotel, the food is great but is just a little bland. The portion sizes are also so huge you could comfortably split one meal between two people

Went there for dinner. They seriously need to get back to producing quality meals rather than pumping out quantity. Lamb shank tasted like warm fat. The pumpkin, feta & walnut salad tasted like...well, it was tasteless. And there wasn’t much there for vego’s. Settled on...some potato wedges with sour cream & sweet chilli. Yum. They did offer to refund our money but that wasn’t the point.More
