Excellent meal in a family friendly environment. Had the roast duck which was cooked perfectly. Dessert was just as good. Staff regularly come around to clear up empty plates and glasses. Great atmosphere. Recommended.

Great pub food, I had the Thai beef salad, and my partner had the rump steak with pepper sauce, both delicious. Food came out fairly quick, kids' meals came out first which we didn't mind. Service was good, polite and friendly staff who were up for a chat. Recommend for an easy meal, kid friendly, well priced food. Good wine selection available too, lots of local wines.

We were here for dinner on our Mudgee holiday. Typical country pub atmosphere, relaxed and friendly. They promote their steaks as their specialty, and I was certainly completely satisfied with mine. It was cooked exactly as specified. Along with some crispy fies, peppercorn sauce, some salad and a glass of local Shiraz, it was the perfect meal. My wife was very happy with her meal too. You probably won't go wrong with any of the pubs in Mudgee, but the Lawson Park is certainly a good one.

Since they have various steaks in a window that you can pick from, I thought that I would get a very good steak. I ordered a rare rump $34. It was overcooked so I took it back. Then it seems they forgot about me. After 20 minutes I went back and asked for a refund. They then “found” one ready so I took that. I asked “are you sure this one is rare” and the server rudely said “do you want me to eat it”. The new steak was stringy but was ok but they served it with the original sides that were now cold. I won’t be back to this joint.

Simple ingredients not available, but there’s a supermarket nearby?
Thai Beef salad sloppy, incorrect flavour. Beef ribs served luke warm and gristly, no Brussel Sprouts as advertised. Service quite surly. Wouldn’t recommend.

Went here for dinner on a Tuesday night. This would usually be a regular pub for us. Ordered and waited 1 hour and 10 mins for our meals, was the worst steak I’ve had there in years and sides were cold. When asking the waitress on the hour how our meals were going they said being plated and that they were busy. We have been there in a much busier setting and gotten much better meals and a lot quicker. Definitely won’t be rushing back for a while.

🤮 PRE Ordered at lunch time, I literally “booked” the lamb shoulder and veg and gravy for dinner for 730pm as advised when it’s gone it’s gone - ordered….. Then “sorry - I over sold and don’t have any left” at 7:30 booking.
So I ordered gnocchi. Is it potato is it fresh made?
“Yea but it’s semolina”” but fresh”.
Coles instant pasta arrives with a mashed floret of broccoli and cream.
Eye fillets arrived medium rare for the boys and burnt beyond recognition, chips cold, salad wet, sloppy and old.
This was after sharing battered cod and chips for lunch here, (when lamb shoulder was specially booked / ordered for dinner) and we were served equivalent of I &J fish fingers.
Never again.
Not worth the food neither the wait time of an hour when all bistro type tables empty.
Absolutely - sincerely disgusted.
Cheers. 🤮

Went early for dinner on a Friday night- to beat the crowd. Steak chips and salad- chips reheated and cold, salad topped out of a coleswooth bag and steak okay. Barramunfi panfried - fish okay. Potatoes dish reheated and yet cold.
Simply an underwhelming night and I think they have lost their touch. No longer in our agenda as too many better places in town. Staff friendly

Was recommended and sooooo looking forwards to our meal here, unfortunately it was actually awful...hubby's $44 eye fillet was MW when ordered MR and veges cremated....my Angus burger was inedible crunchy black burnt patti and bacon raw and salad slimy and rotten.
Garlic Bread was nice and bottle of Mudgee Merlot was great service was average.
Hopefully a bad night.

We have been to this pub on several occasions when visiting Mudgee. The food is not cheap so you would expect quality on your plate. I ordered the duck breast as a main and can honestly say I have not had a worse pub meal ever and I have had a lot. It all tasted like it had been cooked hours ago and was basically inedible. The duck was tough and was served as two small slabs. The spinach and potatoes were long dead. The sauce was reheated gravy. We will not be back. Do better. Have some pride in what you put on a plate.

We were visiting for the weekend and we were disappointed with our meals. As soon we walked into the restaurant area , we could smell a bad stench, we realised it was coming from the toilet close by. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with a prawn topper which was disgusting a quick cook in the deep fryer looked like, the cold sauce tasted like a hollandaise sauce from out of a bottle with three prawns thrown on top. My husband had the T-bone steak with mushroom sauce unfortunately the sauce didn’t have any mushrooms in it at all and tasted again like hollandaise sauce out of a bottle. There are better pub feeds in Mudgee!

As a local I have eaten at The Heifer many times but am definitely calling it a day. During the last few months the food has become more and more depressing with only the steak being half good. Their roast lamb forequarter consists of two very tough over cooked shoulder chops, other dishes are all basic, poorly cooked old fashioned pub grub.
Too expensive…..best go to that famous Scottish restaurant that starts with a M.

Great steak but ......
Ordered our meals, 20 minutes later went to pick them up - wrong order, ok , accept things go wrong occasionally
Waited another 10 got our original order
My husband’s steak perfect my pork belly 😡
Cold!!!! in the middle and not crispy
Returned and ordered the fettuccine gamberi instead. This was average and they only refunded the $8 difference rather than crediting the original dish - poor form
Won’t ever be eating here again
Definitely overrated

Very busy in the bistro line up and staff were very apologetic about the wait. Ordered scorch fillet with two sides and mushroom sauce. The steak was delicious , slightly overdone (I asked for medium). Mash was creamy and garlicky and mushroom sauce was creamy too. The pub on the way in is a bit dated but the food is amazing

While I found the staff really friendly I was really disappointed with the steaks we ordered for dinner.
I ordered a T Bone medium as I like a bit of pink in my steak but not rare. When the meal was serves it was some where between rare and blue. Even with a steak knife it was hard to cut with sinews through the steak and it was o under cooked. Ig expect better for a $45 steak
My wife ordered medium well and it came out medium rare (totally pink inside) and she could not eat it.
This is a steak restaurant and it’s not unreasonable to expect them to cook it as ordered
